Harman Kardon AVR 630

I am selling my trusty hk. I finally decided to give HDMI a try, and to be honest its not much of an improvement. The low down on this unit form my perspective:
1. Very powerful avr for the coin with the classic warm and gutsy HK sound. 42 pounds of muscle (compare to currents models) Look at the reviews that I linked. This actually puts out 75 wpc all channels driven, and 90 in stereo. It drive 3 lsi7s as fronts without breaking a sweat.
2. This unit comes with quad bass management, which I have found very useful with certain setups. Plus you have the option of independent bass management, which I have also found useful for various setups. For instance, I often like to crossover my mains at a lower frequency for 2.1 channel music listening, and raise the crossover for movies. This allows you that option.
3. Favorite feature - full bass management through the multi channel analog inputs. Get a bd player that decodes internally (most do) and is equipped my mc analog outputs and you can enjoy the lossless hd tracks without spending the coin on hdmi. You the money you saved to buy a Logitech harmony remote and you have no need for an hdmi switcher since the remote does it all for you.
Caveats and quirks:
1. This comes with the hk avr 635 remote, which does everything you need sans one thing: the 630 remote had a mic built in for the setup, the 635 does not. Therefore I will include a Radio Shack spl meter that I bought on clearance at my asking price, and you can do the setup manually with that and a tape measure (which is what I always did).
2. There is a firmware update available that I never bothered to do. It adds PLIIx (which I don't need since I have always done 5.1) and makes the sound codex switch faster. There is a slight (about a second) mute when you are watching a dd 5.1 show and a dd 2.0 commercial comes on as the receiver switches to dd plII. I never really bothered me (especially since I fast forward through all the commercials) so I never installed the update. But it is still available through HK's website.
All in all, this has been a great receiver that has performed without a hitch for over 2 years for me. It does have a few scratches and small dents in each side that I never noticed until I just took it out of the cabinet. Once in, it looks and performs great.
Sale includes hk avr 635 remote, zone 2 remote, original manual, heavy duty 14 gauge detachable power cord, and Radio shack spl meter (new in box).
I pack well and ship fast. Please pay through PAYPAL as merchandise. My price is for CONUS only. Please pm for other locations.
$160 local; $190 shipped and paypaled.
Thanks.

Thanks Mike. Yes I think that this is a great compromise for someone who doesn't want to sacrifice gutsy musicality but needs the convenience of an AVR.
