Saw this posting of a Peter Jackson interview. This is going to be freakin sweet! I can't wait!!!
Jackson Talks ROTK
Three hours of epic Tolkien bliss.
September 02, 2003 - The final chapter in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy is coming this holiday season and what a gift it'll be to fans. The New Zealand-born filmmaker recently talked with Empire about what Middle-earth enthusiasts can expect in The Return of the King.
"We've gone through two entire movies and six hours of exposition," says Jackson. "Now we get three hours of pay-off."
He continues, "I've come to realize that the third film is the reason why you make the first two, You want to get to this one, you want to finish it. Also, when film three is released you get this other dynamic at that point it will probably become in most people's minds, a nine-hour film."
Weta supervisor Richard Taylor also raved about the last Rings installment saying, "If Helm's Deep was an epic battle unlike anything seen in cinema before, the battle at Minas Tirith is ten times that." He explains, "In the case of Helm's Deep we had 10,000 Uruk-hai fighting 150 Elves, and with Rohan we are talking about 200,000 Orcs going up against the city. The numbers are exponentially increasing."
Finally screenwriter Philippa Boyens gushed, "I saw the charge of the Rohirrim... This is, like, 6,000 horsemen charging at the camera. The ground is shaking, their swords are raised. It's just incredible." Sounds like we're in for a real cinematic treat here, folks.
Speaking of treats, New Line recently announced that the extended versions of The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers (the same versions available on the DVDs) will be released in select North American theaters before ROTK opens. The current plan is to release the films in around 120 theaters across the U.S. and Canada with a number of other theaters putting on one-time showings of the two extended version films.
Fellowship is due on December 5th, and The Two Towers will follow on the 12th. And on December 16th, many theaters are expected to participate in a LOTR marathon, showing the first two films back-to-back, followed by the first showing of The Return of the King at midnight on December 17th.

Im DEFINETELY LOOKING FORWARDS TO THIS MOVIE........
One thing is for sure, they have 2 movies to beat, and those 2 movies are awesome! I'm sure the 3rd will be even better!!!- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
as someone who has read the books before they started making the movies (dad was a big fan) Peter Jackson and the crew are just doing a killer job. Can't wait for ROTK.
btw: if you haven't seen the extended version of FOTR, it's really a much better film, i'm waiting for TTT extended edition before I buy, it's that much better. -
Peter Jackson has created the best trilogy in cinema history.
Peace Out~:DIf...
Ron dislikes a film = go out and buy it.
Ron loves a film = don't even rent. -
I agree.....When you watch these films it almost makes you feel like you are watching history. He has created Middle Earth so frightening real that it's mind blowing.
