There is an amplifier made Chinese I think. Maybe Japanese. Shinyang or something like that.

Any body know the actual name and how they sound?

Could be any number of companies based on your very, very broad description. There is a tube manufacturer in China called Shuguang, but I don't think they make acutal audio gear.

There is a difference between Chinese and Japanese gear which is it?

hey heiney there you are...i found something you might be interested in...

    http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/ele/2411757196.html

I think it's a Vincent knock off like the one with the little tube in the font middle. It's an integrated that I'm thinking of. That Shuguang might be it. Let me look.

No thats not it. This place make a really cool looking int/amp but I'm not sure how well it runs

I'll take the lack of response as a lack of current knowledge.

I am relocating to the Portland, Or. area and have mine eyes on a set of 3.1. Should that acquisition come to pass I'll be sure to detail how a Shengya amp/cd( most likely the a17 http://china-hifi-audio.com/shengya-a17-hybrid-vacuum-valve-tube-integrated-amplifier-p-91.html) performs. And how well matched the tube cd player is to the a17 (http://china-hifi-audio.com/shengya-cd18-vacuum-tube-hifi-cd-player-silver-p-88.html) If not I'll have to wait until my belongings ship to try it out on my 1c though that will happen in the near future anyway I don't see a cause for alarm on delay. Aside form the real possibility that the 3.1 sell before I arrive.

I understand these aren't the highball grade of the offered line but I've become accustomed to the philosophy of "first we try ...then we trust"

Make sure you are getting 110V models. The specs claim 220V 50hz input. If not, you will spend more on reduction transformers than the gear.

I'm sure you can Google the name and come up with plenty. As far as Chinese brands in general, I'm happy with mine.

Shuguang does make amplifiers and they are very good; good enough to match their Treasure tubes. Their Treasure 300B amp is still the best amp I've ever heard with my Klipsch speakers.

Specifically what kind of amp are you looking for?

Shuguang, Yaqin, Bada, Jolida, etc. All Chinese tube gear manufacturers, many I had the opportunity to hear during my year long stay in the PRC last year. Though I am not as knowledgeable as the veterans here, I now own some gear from the above makers and 'most' of what I did get a chance to hear while in China from our list above seemed pretty good.

Do your research. Find your price range. And, later, on you can join the 'tube-rollers' Society'; I'm not there yet.

I had a Kavent CD-1031/Shengya CD-16 player and it was very good. I replaced it with
a Esoteric DV-50. Good built quaility also.

I am particularly interested in this set (less speakers)

I thought I'd get my feet wet in the hybrid integrated with the lower line I linked to earlier then upgrade if it was to my liking.

That's a very good combo! I think that the Integrated amp is in the $1250-$1400 range.

They mention price in the vid but I can't recall what it was. I think it was in the 6500 range including the speeks.

I was off a bit the cd/int were 1850 a piece and the speeks are 1900. I'd figure 4500 or so with conditioner, wires and IC's plus shipping.

I dig the idea of the tube rollers but I'm afraid I have too many other hobbies to be that dedicated. At least for now any way my mountain bike takes a bunch of my free time as well. Maybe when I'm tiered of the hospital bills I roll some glass but not just yet.

I was hoping to get the best of both worlds with the tube transport and pre dictating to a quality ss amp. Also something I don't have to leave on or take a few hours to warm up would be more suited to my schedule these days... I don't intend to get too crazy but I have to consider a power source for my second set (crossing my fingers) of 1C.

Who knows I may even put this on hold deciding my truck needs a new ghetto blaster first lol.

I completely agree. Integrated tube amps are you friend if they self bias lol. I spent some time checking things out and to be honest I am toying the idea of the onkyo a-9555 and the bp-sp 808. I have to admit I was a little discouraged by the 350 $ shipping charges and tariffs for the shengya.
