Hard to imagine Fragile sounding any better than the DVD-A but would love to hear somebody's opinion if fortunate enough to own both.

Thank you, sir. I need to get my eyes checked as I just finished looking on SA-CD.net and SH before I posted my question.

I've gotta say, some of those folks on SH are a trip. They complain about the lack of SACD releases and then turn around and complain about the ones that are being released or say they should be Blu-ray audio issues instead.....like that's going anywhere.

You have to have all 5 channels hooked up and you have to make sure that you have the receiver & dvd player set for multichannel not 2 channel

I own the DVD-Audio of Fragile. I do not like the 5.1 mix of it at all. The fidelity is fine, but the mix is horrid. I will let you know when the SACD comes out and I listen to them both.

Assuming you've got everything set up correctly, if you're not hearing the difference you either need better gear or better ears, I would start with the former

I will agree that just cuz a title is available on SACD it doesn't mean it will sonically blow your socks off.

I still scratch my head over the praise of the SHM-SACD release of Who's Next....granted it is good, but I have other redbook CDs that purely from a sound quality perspective paint a better sonic picture.

If the pursuit is to get 'the best' available mix and media for a given title...ok...I get it...maybe the SHM-SACD of Who's Next is the best, but as far as blowing my socks off purely from sound quality....eh....

Same for my SACD copy of the Stones Let It Bleed.....sounds good, but eh....

    ymmv - obviously....

Interesting. I have every CD issue of Who's Next including Hoffman's and the SHM-SACD is by far the best. It's what I always knew it could be. The same for the SHM-SACD of Let It Bleed.

Jesse - I've been hanging out over on the SH forums - the general opinion is yes, the SHM-SACD of Who's Next is 'the best' - but the way I am reading that is that it is 'the best' - as you say - when compared to any other mix or CD or LP.

So, I get that - but what I was saying is that, say compared to SHM-SACD of "Aja" - sonically, "Aja" sounds better from a musical reproduction standpoint - better soundstaging, imaging, clarity of mix, etc.

When I put on Who's Next and listen to Baba O'Riley - it just sounds kinda flat, but I get that its 'the best' flat available

I don't have the SHM-SACD of Let It Bleed, I have the 2002 Abkco version...sounds a bit dull.

I got ya and agree with that. Sonically, it's hard to beat a Steely Dan recording.

    I recommend cranking it.

Tomato Tamoto I think the mix sounds fine...I just hope that most of the new SACD's have a 5.1 mix also as i like both and most don't like 5.1 at all so we're back to Tomato Tamoto
