Ok, I finally moved my 15TL from a reciever to separates a couple of weeks ago. And a couple of days ago I started getting the dreaded static and drop outs from the older amp. I was hoping to find some bad solder joints. I found mold and rust. So...do I buy a gallon of de ox and dunk it...sh@t can it...or is is worth trying to find a repairs shop?

thanks...cincy

Well, trying to be optimistic, with all of that moisture the caps may not be dried out

If I recall correctly the NAD Monitor series uses physical contact relays in the power circuit, and they are likely to be highly corroded based upon what I'm seeing in your photos. Mine were problematic after 23 years even used in a temperature/humidity controlled enviroment.

Wayne at Stereo Repair - In House Service Company (stereorepair.net) has put 3 vintage NAD Monitor Series pieces back in shape for me (no affiliation).

Personally, I would email him the link to this thread and ask him to give you his opinion after seeing the images.

    I have a Wayne-repaired NAD 2200. I highly recommend his work.
Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

Yep, but rescuing one from the depths of a damp basement may be another matter

Hey all, thanks for the solid shop information. I did not store it in a damp basement, but I would say that was a pretty good guess. Certainly reasonable pricing. I put a Carver C-1 pre and M500 amp in place of the suspect Adcom 565 Nad 2600 combo so I am back up. This combo seems to be missing the boom and fun I had before. I guess back to a shelf for now...at least the cooling fins seem to be in good shape:rolleyes: Just not sure I want to invest in this one.
