The Revolution will not be Televised...
interestingly (ironically) based on events of the last few years... it probably will be.

A while ago I used to buy jazz records at a store called Jazz House near Coldspring and York Road in Baltimore. Bill was the owner and he always had a selection of records playing through a pretty decent system. One day while I'm sorting through the bins a guy pops his head in the front door, listens to what's currently being played and says, "Gil Scot Heron". Then, just as quickly he disappears back onto York Road. He was right, that's what was playing, but he had only needed two or three seconds to come up with the right answer. Bill said he did the exact same thing every day and was never wrong. That event has stuck in my mind ever since.
Rest in peace, Gil, you will be remembered.

I was just listening to Home is where the Hatred Is last night, its one of my favorites from Gil.
Which reminds me my father has a double album of Gil and Brian Jackson sitting aroundand collecting dust. He only listens to digital nowadays, so it will be my pleasure to take this off of his hands when I go to see him on Fathers Day.

    Rest in Peace, Gil

Gil had a couple of songs that I liked. One was "Angel Dust" for some unknown reason; another was "The Bottle".

I remember when he was sent to jail in 2006 for violating a plea deal. It was then that I found out that he was HIV positive. He tried to get his life back on track. However, I can only imagine the challenges he faced.

    Rest in Peace Gil.
