Carver Amp opinion

A local friend has offered to sell me his Carver AV-505. If I got it, the amp would be powering a pair of LSi25's, an LSiC, and a pair of LSi7's. Do you think this amp would be able to handle that kind of load?
I've search Google fairly extensively, but I could not find ratings for this amp. I know it is rated at 100 W/ch for 2 channel, and 80 W/ch for 5 channel, but those are both 8 ohm ratings. I know Carver's have a solid reputation behind them, but are the experts' opinions?

This amp won't have the guts to push an entire LSi set. I would look for a good deal on a Sunfire Cinema Grand instead.

    I concur.

You do not want to use that amplifier for this purpose.

Haha, he offered to sell it for $200 and I definitely like the way it sounds. He has an older Klipsch system running off of it (no idea about the speaker models), using a Yamaha RX-V665 as the AVR with pre-outs. He's looking to get an Adcom GFA-7000 to replace his Carver.

Klipsh are a MUCH different sound than your LSi's and are also much more effecient so they can do more with less power.

I run a Carver AV-705x w/ some 15's and a LSiC and am willing to bet if I tried hard I could trip the amp.

^^^ I believe Cfrizz has that exact amp; if so, her opinion would definitely be worth listening to.

I also think this (or one of the other Sunfire Grand's) is what NooshinJohn has and has run his SDA's, LSi 15's (now mine ) and a set of Magneplanar MMG's.....
