Searched the forum but did not find much info about this model. Looking at the spec sheet, it looks like it would fit my needs perfectly. Just wondering if anybody has any 1st hand experience.
Also, what models below $500 should I be looking into?
Very simple needs for me: No 3D needed, only a few HDMI inputs and of course I want the receiver to decode the new HD surround formats. Also it must have the HDMI pass thru when the receiver is in standby mode.
My system is below in my sig.
Any help is appreciated!
Eric.

Makes sense....that model of Marantz, the 5 and 6 series I believe have had issues with popping, don't know if they have straightened it out or not. They called it the pop of death. Regardless, marantz makes a good avr when you move up the chain. Also if your happy with your pioneer, why not stay in the brand and look for a model used with what you want in it. I have an elite 21 with hdmi and decoding of the new surround formats that I picked up for 3 bones....here in the FM. Just sayin', it's possible to stay under 5 beans and get everything you want. Check over at AVS forum for those Marantz models, plenty of threads about issues and such. Good luck to you.HT SYSTEM-

If you like your 1015 i'd check out the vsx1120, I have both and the 1120 is basically new and improved with more features.

I'll check it out. -
Is that "HDMI pass thru in standby mode" pretty much the norm on new AVR's?

B Run, does your 1120 have the ability to pass the HDMI signal thru the AVR when it is off (standby)? I read the data sheet and did not catch that feature. -
If you mosey on over to the AVS forum, they have owner threads going on that avr. It's not a given on the pass thru thing. Some have it,some don't,some have it and it doesn't work very well too. The ones that don't have it just means you have to use 2 inputs on the TV rather than one. Means one extra step between switching is all.HT SYSTEM-

I've honestly never tried but I don't think so. I could be mistaken but I think i'd read somewhere that it has to be on. Just curious why would you want that feature? Just to watch TV without running all your speakers? -

Absolutely. Say the wifey or kids want to watch TV or play the PS3 with no surround sound. With this feature they can, plus I only need a total of 3 HDMI cables for the whole system. Cable box only has one HDMI output and I want it to go to the AVR, not the TV. You would think all AVR's would have this... -

Yes I ave been reading there. Tons of info to sift thru! -

Right on I was just curious, my tv speakers are crap so i'd never even considered using them over my other ones but that does make sense. Well good luck on your hunt and let us know what you end up doing.
