XLR cables or RCA,Which is better for

you got it all wrong mm, all wrong.
Who purchased what rights to what patent? Pass' super symmentry is a furthur enhancement of a fully differentially balanced circuit from input to output which is always better than a unbalanced input and output.

ok..Vinyl, the final frontier...
Avantgarde horns, 300b tubes, thats the kinda crap I want... -
What I see is twice the circuitry (in the patent) than through an unbalanced circuit. I would have to weigh unbalanced (vs) balanced with an op-amp (vs) twice the circuitly as in this patent. The minimalist would probably head towards unbalanced ....

True there is a full duplication of the circuitry for a fully balanced design but each phase or (half)of the signal is only seeing one half of that circuitry.
It switches twice on each half cycle though so crossover distortion happens on each 90 degrees of the waveform rather than every 180.
I didn't intend to step on anyones brand envy here so I'll step down.Vinyl, the final frontier...

I am assuming my gear is balanced, but maybe it isn't,it would be nice if there was some way to determine it.Im am using all balanced connections,at least they make solid connections between pieces.

No brand envy whatsoever, you're just not fully understanding the patent and what it can do to make the signal more pure, that's all.
Balanced is another industry "buzz" word that can be interpreted a few ways. Unfortunately a few of those ways aren't any better/different than single ended. Super Symmetry is different and is truly balanced which is always a plus generally speaking.
I am out of this one as well, no harm, no foul.
H9"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. Differentiation by numbers is for those who do not".--Nelson Pass Pass Labs XA25 | EE Avant Pre | EE Mini Max Supreme DAC | MIT Shotgun S1 | Pangea AC14SE MKII | Legend L600 | BlueSound Node 3 - Tubes add soul! -
Those that go balanced convince themselves that it's the best route, in one way shape or form. I could honestly care less and will still have a smoking hot sounding rig.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? My system is balanced end-to-end. My main motivation for going this route is for headphone listening. If you've ever heard what a balanced headphone amp and headphones converted to balanced operation can do, you'd be sold. My headphone amp is also my pre-amp, so I used the XLR connections into my Krell to power my SDA's as well.Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

I've heard and owned multiple balanced systems and it still doesn't factor into my audio life enough to drive hard and always do it. I've found that once some go balanced, all of a sudden, those that still enjoy un-balanced or just don't know....become less cool for some reason. That's not in every case but it's happened on here, for whatever reason.
Hey, audio is all encompassing when it comes to your beliefs. I just hope I get to hear some of these rigs at some point down the road With all the cool gear involnved....I'm late to the party.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Your BDA1 has a true fully balanced output but in all probability the Cambridge and Sony use the invertor/summer dirived method of sending and recieving balanced signals. In most cases the manufacturor will state a product is fully balanced. If they went to the trouble of engineering such a product they believe it has advantages thus will likely make such claims for it.
Well, as they say; RTFM, or in this case, RTFWeb Site.
"The Azur 840E makes room for eight inputs, two of which have both fully balanced (XLR) and unbalanced connections"
For the 840W they have this,
" The second generation Class XD is now complemented by a new output stage carefully adjusted to integrate with this novel technology, revised balanced inputs for lower distortion and noise."
Since they designed the two to work together I suspect it is also fully balanced, or if not, still providing the same benefit.
Anyway, whether everything is fully balanced or not, I love this setup now. It is dead quiet at high volume levels, and, especially after all the cable upgrades and vibration tweaks, it sounds great.Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable

I'm convince, that (XLR) is the way to go. glad I stated this topic. Well, you got the pros and the cons.PolkAudioClyde
