TSi500s vs M70s as fronts in surround setup with M40s, CS2, PSW505
I have TSi500s that I bought used on craigslist and when my Denon AVR-2112CI arrives, my setup will be:
Fronts: TSi500
Rears: M40
Center: CS2
Sub: Originally PSW505
But now the M70s are back on sale at newegg.
Would I be better off getting the M70s as fronts? I read that it's good to have a matching speaker series in a surround setup, but my priority is music and the TSi500s are supposedly a little better for this.
It probably doesn't matter much... I've read that the M70s and TSi500s sound very similar, so I'll probably stick with what I have.

Mostly people are referring to the front 3 speakers when they say that. They need to be timbre matched w/i the same series so when an object moves right to left you dont get noticeable tonal changes between the speakers.
Surrounds dont need to match series or even brand of the front three.

I would stick with what you have, but I have found the M70's to be better for music than the TSi 500's.

LOL....it would be cheaper for you to buy the 70's off newegg than the TSi's since they retail at least 1.5x more than the Monitor series lol..."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." I would keep the speakers that you have now. Try it out for a little while and see what you think.
Start saving $$$ for an upgrade though. it is a never ending cycle.Front - RTiA5's
Rear - RTiA3's
Center - CSiA4
Sub - PSW110 -
Welcome to Club Polk!
You're fine with what you have....but if you really want to match the front three in the future, just get the CS20 and sell the CS2--this is the easiest way to upgrade. Keep the TSI-500s and match the center because, as said above. The front three are the most important in timbre matching!

If you really want to do it, but IMHO its a waste of cash. Put some of that into better cables, a dedicated amp and you will get a much better payback, but thats just me.
