Parting out a Beogram 8000 without cartridge.

Or if you want a project, the issue is that the tone arm drops too quickly. This model has an electrical servo controlled by an RC circuit. That servo either needs to be cleaned or the cap need to be replaced.

I'm happy to either sell parts from it or sell it complete.

Complete. it's $80 plus shipping.

I'm planning a road trip soon from Phoenix to Santa Barbara, then on to Portland. If it works out, I'll deliver it for beer.

I love the Beograms. Nice table when set up properly.

Yes, I have another just like the one advertised but with the MMC 6000 cartridge. It's a cool turntable. They are not really that difficult to set up if you can read and follow directions.

I like it and what's more, my wife likes it. The WAF is really off the scale. Very simple to operate; if you can operate a CD player, you can spin vinyl with a Beogram 8000.

Well, no. I got this table, and another one and a single cartridge. The idea was that I could take the two and make one good one. However, both tables had trivial problems that didn't require parts. So I'm keeping one table and the cartridge.

You can get new cartridges that are said to be very good, but they are not cheap. About $250 IIRC.

My biggest concern would be damaging the stylus suspension with the hard tonearm drops while debugging that problem and I was hoping you might have a bad cartridge that could be used during that process. Can you PM me a total delivered price to Zip 44333?

Forgot to ask; is the speed spot on 33-1/3?

That is my concern as well and the reason I'm not working on it myself. My thought was that I would determine the weight of the stylus and attach a weight to the end of the tone arm...

I do not have a bad cart however.

There is a second reason why I'm offering to part this one out. It is less than perfect cosmetically. Not horrible, but Beograms are seen by their admirers as very attractive pieces and so I think cosmetics are rather more important than normal. There are three cosmetic issues. The dustcover is in pretty good shape but there is something about the surface. It feels like tree sap on the hood of a car. I think mirror glaze and a buffing wheel would get it but I can't say for sure. Two of the control buttons are not quite right. They feel right and work right but they don't return quite as high as they should. Every Beogram 8000 I have seen had faux wood tape around the edge of the plinth and it is missing on this one. I'll post some photos later.

I don't have a strobe so I can't say for sure about the speed. I'm pretty sure the digital indicator is set point, not actual speed. I think it is designed to blink when it is off-speed but I don't know what the tolerance might be. Sorry I can't be more helpful there.

I'll send a PM with shipping cost later this morning.
