I have several flying around my deck. It seems like a few try to get aggressive when sit outside this afternoon. I looked for a nest but I could not find one. I am sure there is one around somewhere. Is there an easy way to get rid of these creatures?

You sure they are bumble bees and not carpenter bees? Their nest could be your deck.

I think you are right. I just googled them. I may have mistaken them. Since they were large bees, I just assumed Bumble Bees.

Agreed, carpenter and they bore small holes in decking and generally anything wood around eaves, downspouts, fencing, posts, etc. Plug the holes if you find them since they will return and take a tennis racket out for a few days to knock out the main offenders.

Raid works too. So does Spectracide. I like Spectracide 'cause it shoots insanely far. Keeps things a good distance so you can sneak up on them and still have a running start.

I plug the holes with expanding foam or outdoor caulking.

A badminton racket is even lighter and easier wail with. Males get aggressive and fight this time of year making it easy to get twofers. Wasp and hornet spray in the holes and caulking when it's dry. I'm not sure long term as they seem to come back every year.

wasp and hornet spray is a win for me......I have wasps trying to build a nest by one of my downspouts every year, every year I get 2 cans of wasp spray and go all double cannon on there ****. I caught them early this year.

Last year I didnt see them until the end of the year, alot of wasps came out when I sprayed....but 2 30ft streams of wasp death being expertly wielded by yours truly kept them at bay.

If you decide on the wasp spray, get the commercial garde its a bit more per can but it drops them quicker.

In the past, I have made bee traps that work good. Get yourself a large plastic soda bottle and cut it in half. Invert the top and insert it into the bottom half. Then put 2 or three inches of water with lots of sugar in. Any other sweet liquid will work. You will get lots of bees with this setup. You can also buy something similar but this works as good as anything you can buy.

You could also find where they are building their nest and spray it with some cynoff or demon wp. It will last a couple months. It leaves a fine trace of powder and they pickup the poison when they come in contact with it. They do not die right a way so you cant directly spray the bees with it unless you just want to make them mad.

You have to mess with those guys pretty bad in order for them to get "real" aggressive. You're sitting on their food supply. I used to do the same thing after dinner. Sit on the bench that they liked to eat. They'll hover two inches in front of your nose trying to get you to leave. Don't buy it. Just sit there and look at one of god's marvels. You can see the entire undercarriage and all the other cool stuff they have up close. And forget about bee dogfights. You have to see those to believe them. Airplane dogfights are nothing compared to them. Show me an airplane that can wrap half his stuff around another airplane, be punching each other in the head/grappling like crazy, all while flying.

Man!...Your "deck" must be huge for something to be flying around it. You must buy your pants at the local Big'n'Tall. Remove your "deck", remove your problem. The Mrs is planning on removing my "deck" when i'm sleeping or so she says.

Bumble bees don't have "nests" so to speak...they actually live underground. You're most likely thinking of yellow jackets. Bumble bees are smaller and almost waspish looking.

Actually, they are Carpenter bees. I thought they were bumble bees initially. I have found two places where they are nesting.

I had yellow jackets last summer. They had 4 nests in different spots on my property. I got rid of them with a few cans Spectracide.
