Polk 10s in need of repair

I have my original Polk 10s that I bought in 1980. Last summer blew both tweeters. In addition, the capacitor(?) on the crossover burned up as well (was probably driving them too hard with a failing Sony "receiver"). Previously I would pop fuses; this time the tweeters and crossover failed. I called Polk parts last summer and was told that they could not fix the crossover, but the woman I talked to had me describe the crossover and based on my description she told me the capacitor was fried and suggested I get it repaired. So far I can't find anyone in Vegas that does such work.
I don't remember her mentioning if they sold replacement tweeters; does anyone know if they still do, and how much they are? I have seen other posts about "upgrading" the crossovers? How so? I went into a "vintage electronics" repair shop last saturday in WA state and talked to the shop owner. He suggested I find replacement tweeters on a site called "partsexpress.com". Good idea? Is there anything that is close to what came in the original Polks (or better)? Any info you could pass along would be greatly appreciated.

What tweeters are in your 10's now? Find out and call Polk and they will tell you what is the replacement tweeter. Tell them you are a club polk member for a discount.I got static in my head

I suggest you provide photos of the tweeters and crossovers. There are a lot of knowledgeable folks here that will steer you in the right direction. First they need to know for sure what you have. Photos are worth a thousand words.

Once you identify the tweeters in your speakers, you will be able to replace them with the original model from an individual seller, or possibly an updated and improved model from Polk Audio. The cost to replace two tweeters should be between $40-100 for both.
I would not recommend using something from Parts Express when the official parts are easily available.
As for the crossover components, if the components on the other crossover are undamaged, you can read the values from that and get replacement parts from a variety of sources. In this case, you can check places like Parts Express, or Sonicraft for more upscale replacements, and I would suggest that you buy a pair of the part you are replacing and have part changed the both crossovers so they will sound matched. Alternatively, you can watch ebay and the For Sale section here for somene selling Monitor 10 crossovers. Please note there are more than one type of 10, so try to get the ones that match your model.
Good luck
