Does this exist?

I'm looking for a box that will stream my DVDs natively, and give me the DVD menus and such. I know all about re-encoding to mp4 and all that, but I want to be able to work with a ripped DVD as if it's in a player.

Does such a thing exist?

Rip to ISO; any computer w/ VLC will play it like the DVD was there.

Pretty sure XBMC will, too; if you really are just doing DVD's and not Blu-ray, an old XBOX can run that.

Will check to see if my LG will play them; I think my Oppo would off of a thumb drive.

No blu ray, just regular DVD. I'm looking to stream these to a TV. Right now I'm using an Apple TV, but I have to convert them down to mp4 first and am not all that happy with the quality of the conversions.

hm. if it's just the video quality, you should be able to tweak that. But for the menus ISO is the simplest solution. Unfortunately, Apple TV doesn't do that without hacking on software IIRC.

Anyhow, XMBC on a classic Xbox would probably cover you. The Splinter Cell hack is really easy; just google it. $20 for the xbox, $3 for splinter cell and maybe $10 for the USB card reader. If that doesn't grab you, just search for ISO and the model of whatever BluRay player might interest you and you should be able to find out if it can play them.

Oh- come to think of it- I have a WDTV LIve Plus that'll play ISOs that's just sitting in a closet since I got BluRay that does all my streaming. PM me if you're interested.

There are a lot of media streamers that will do it. I am currently using a Netgear NEO550 and it works great. Other favorites are the Boxee Box, Dune players, WDTV Live, and Play On line. They all play ISO, MKV, TS, MPEG, etc. and most music formats.

I use a Dune H1. I can stream DVD's over my network, but I find movies load faster if they are on the hard drive inside the Dune. If you want menu and chapter support, you will want to use an iso container. I don't think all streamers will do iso over a network. The Dune and Netgear 550 will. Not sure about the others.
