Just looking for a 2 channel amp I can use in my HT. WIll be running Polk A9's and will be used 95% for just HT. Just wanted to start looking as I am thinking of running a pre/pro in the future.

Budget for right now would be about 450 tops, so this isn't needing to be anything special.

Would prefer an adcom, ATI, Parasound ect or along those lines. Current AVR is Pio SC-05.

Just a suggestion, but why not look for a 3 channel amp? I would think you would want to evenly amp your front three for HT purposes but I could be wrong here.

Most 3 channel amps would be over the price range of the 450 that I know of, such as the Adcom 5503, Parasound models, (even Emo ) so just looking for 2 channel. Also I would be getting a 5 channel down the road anyways to make a full 7 channel as I run a 7.1 for the room. Once again I'm thinking of trying a pre/pro down the road but would just like to have a 2 channel amp for now and then get a 5 channel down the road.

No as there is no W involved.

All I want is something that can kick the A9's butt's and get them moving for HT, thats all.

I have an Adcom 555 II in mint condition (no scratches, dents, dings, mars, etc.) with original box, manual, and packing. I will let it go for $400 shipped. Let me know if interested.

I ran a Adcom 555 on my A9's and it was a good match. It was plenty of power, but the a9's didn't come alive until I tried them on a dedicated pre. It was much better than my elite avr/adcom combo.

Also look at the Rotel RMB-1080, it was a step up in SQ from the Adcom but costs about $100+ more.

If you could go $500 I'll ship you this beauty. I got it a few years ago to use in a theater and ended up using a tube amp instead so I never really used it except a few hours to check out. It is in spectacular shape, same as when I got it.

+1 on the dedicated pre/pro. I just bought an Anthem AVM-20 and it is just amazing the difference.
