Alright, I forgot about that. You met Russ one day when you didn't know him.....and you weren't there that long.....

I am not scared to buy or sell online and meet locals for pickup.

But it's a whole lot different story for finding a date online.

Honestly, I wouldn't expect to sell a set of large floor speakers without letting someone audition them. Its Audiogon, not Craigslist. Most thugs wouldn't even know what you're selling. I've had dozens of people into my house to audition stuff over the years from Agon, Ebay, Polk forum, and Craigslist sales ads. Sometimes I've known the buyers, but mostly not. I just use a little caution and common sense. Judge their interaction and their interest in the item for sale (they should be asking questions, etc), get a good look at them as they approach, etc. Never any problems. Just have someone else there or a weapon stashed conveniently.

I just about spit Diet MD on my computer screen after reading that...I am tempted to put it in my sig lol...

This actually happened to me somewhat. I had a really kickass system in my car years ago, almost 15K. It needed a new intake gasket and I had this friend who knew a guy who could fix it for me. Well as the guy started working on the car some of his friends happened over. I heard them talking to one another in hushed tones about hitting the mall parking lot, lots of stereos to be had. Later, my (stupid) friend who knows nothing about this says to everyone "hey guys, check out this killer system" as he hits the power button. Honor among thieves I guess because my system didn't walk away in the coming year...

Yeah, its the one thing that scares me about my car system. Thankfully it all looks factory minus a cd player from the windows. If they opened up the trunk though I would be in trouble, however my Jetta has a lock on the trunk release inside that if you lock it, you have to unlock it using the key first to open. Same with folding down the seats.

Its a PITA to remember that I have to undo all those locks, but keeps me feeling a little bit safer, especially since my car got broken into on Christmas Eve and my GPS ganked....

Trey, I hate to be cold, but do you really have anything to gain from allowing this guy to demo your gear? Why not just let Ty do his job. If Ty wants a sale then he can send a demo. Why should you stick your neck out for nothing. To me it would not be worth moving my speakers around and then replacing them.

Ty doesn't have a set like these, Mike.

Have you talked to him on the phone? Feel him out, let him come demo. I do it all the time, and have never had an issue and I always tell them to call me on the way, so I can put the dogs up. ;)

I hope you never have to sell a house...you're a nervous wreck over a simple pair of speakers. Good heavens man, pull yourself together. Your windows have bars on them yet?

I understand that Trey has done some serious mods, but can't Ty send something that is stock to give the guy a taste? Furthermore, the fact that Trey has put so much time, money and love into those speakers should encourage him to keep them out of harms way. Who knows what a little bumping a jostling might do. Treitz, remember this?

    That picture is freakin CLASSIC!

When I am selling a house - everything in it like electronics will be relocated before pics make it online - you can believe that...

Nothing like giving out the address, city and zip code of where EVERYTHING is at.

I'm sorry - but I have worked damn hard to have my stuff stolen, period.

The other thing is while I would not mind to sell these speakers - I dont NEED to sell them. I would be completely happy keeping my Taylos for the master bedroom - if they sold I figured I would pick up a set of the new LSi (tower with no bass drivers) to go there down the road... either way - fun fun fun

Oh s@#t, sorry Trey. I forgot you had a second pair of Tylers you are selling. This whole time I was thinking you were gonna deliver the speakers in your main rig to this guy. Knowing that, I can see packing them up and giving him a demo, but only if he was really freakin serious about it.

Russ, if the buyer even sees you? He's gonna run like a two-bit **** out of church. Sale off, period.

Might want to try something else, Trey.

Yeah I have to many speakers right now (two pairs, hahaha) -- but the Taylos sound wonderful - but I would not mind just acquiring another set of speakers to mess around with - like I said the new LSi are intriguing particularly modding the crossovers in them would be interesting based on what I heard in New Jersey.

Yeah, they showed me this picture over the weekend. The prestigious and honorable 5th Annual High-End Speaker Toss Competition.

    ...WE HAVE A WINNER!!!

Actually, I think a tear squeezed out the first time I saw this photo.

Then they asked me about fixing the cabinet.....ummmmm, no thanks.

Yeah, this was the definition of "totaled" after all was said and done. James and his knee, face and elbow survived. The speaker did not.

I can only imagine, who is in the pic? Is that Tom on the steps with the 'oh ****' grimmace forming? What shoes was that guy wearing? Tell me it was flip flops or something equally worthless, because he tripped on nothing but himself. That drive is FLAT like Gwen Stefani, not a pebble in sight.

Even if it was me, I would have tossed it towards those pines and sacrificed my noggin. Granted, that might have just trampolined them right back out, but I would try for a semi-soft landing.

    Wow.

I don't know how Treitz ignored the impulse to just throw the other speaker off the railing saying eff it.

Yeah, Tom on the steps and James on the ground who is wearing black sneakers. There was (still is) a dip and rise in the black top (hidden by James) that got more than one foot to do a funky, but not while carry a speaker.

My buddy Eddie, who took the picture just happened to be walking towards James with camera in hand, finger hovering on the button when it happened.....one in a million shot.
