Went and saw Pirates last night.

Part of my daughters 18th b-day yesterday was the whole family went to see the new Pirates.

I know it's been raked over the coals by the reviewers, and there's people that plain don't like the franchise, but it wasn't bad at all. If you've liked the past three, you'll like this. We all would put it above the last one that came out.

I can see this being an addition to the dvd collection when it's released.
My equipment sig felt inadequate and deleted itself.

My wife felt the same... that it was better than the last two movies with Davy Jones. She's not a big Kiera Knightly fan. I have to say I agree with most of the reviewers. I thought the new characters were pretty weak. The plot was easier to follow, but the downside of that was that it almost put me to sleep. It wasn't bad like George Lucas's Indiana Jones and the Alien Crystal Skull bad, but it definitely wasn't outstanding in any particular regard. Hollywood seems to treat these cash-cow movie franchises like just a big budget TV series... not a whole lot of novel thought or effort seems to go into it. Seems like you should get a little more for the $18 you pay for a ticket.

Apart from the first - this was my very next favorite. The third was ok, the second was almost boring.

Did $346.4 Million worldwide this weekend. Not too shabby.

I agree with Rivrrat's statement of -- "If you've liked the past three, you'll like this".

It isn't the best in the series, but it definitely wasn't as bad as the reviews were saying. I was entertained. Nuff said.

I thought the first one was great, the second one was OK, and the third was almost unwatchable. Not the best trend.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

Just got back from seeing it (2D version). I enjoyed it! The first bit of the movie had some silliness to it and wasn't all that, but once they took to the seas on their quest, the movie did get considerably better.

Big thumbs up for the Mermaids!
    No excuses!

I'm a big fan of all the Pirates movies. I've already seen this one 3 times-one of my favorites.
