Choose between two Subs

I am adding the last piece to my surround and need to choose between either buying a new Polk PSW10 for $95 or a used Proficient S12 locally for $100.

Not sure what to do. My room is approximately 13 wide x 16 deep and open on the back side of the deep end (rear surround end).

Im leaning towards the Polk due to room size and expecting it to have more precise and tighter bass. Am I off on that expectation? I would like to decide today. Oh and the other speakers are RT55, RT15 and CS10.

Well I possibly just increased my budget so now Im second guessing..

    PSW110
    PSW111

    over the PSW10

Wondering if either of those two will perform in a way that merits the extra cost ? The 111 is an 8 inch, more power but twice the cost.

Actually after reading some comments on avsforum it seems I might need to go with something besides polk for the sub. Even users with all Polk surrounds stated the Polk sub they added, the 10, 110 and one other a level up from those, produced muddy bass. So now Im back to deciding on a completely difference sub.

you're right there is not a lot of love for the lower tier Polk subs on AVS; however, if you search some threads concerning the psw505 I think you would find it is a great sub for under $500. On sale now @ newegg for 250 shipped. I would highly recommend looking into it.
2-ch System: Parasound P/LD 2000 pre, Parasound HCA-1000 amp, Parasound T/DQ Tuner, Phase Technology PC-100 Tower speakers, Technics SL-1600 Turntable, Denon 2910 SACD/CD player, Peachtree DAC iT and X1asynchorus USB converter, HSU VTF-3 subwoofer.

Yes I am considering that one. My other issue is whatever I get, Im trying to stick with purchasing it directly from Amazon.com for several reasons. I can put it on my Amazon card and fly under the wifes radar is one and the other is Im a prime member and get free two day and $3.99 overnight and Amazon is awesome with returns should something be wrong.

I have had recommendations of BIC but they all the ones recommended come in at $300 or more.

Let me add that I am coming from using a Logitech Sub from their 5500 surround sound package. I think it was a 10" sub. I was ok with that sub. Im wondering if the Proficient S10 would be able to match that. I would expect it to exceed.

My situation now seems like I would be better off going with spending the least I can for now to get acceptable sound and then later upgrade.

Does anyone have experience with the Proficient S12 ?

Have you looked at our local craigslist for good subs? Usually the OC craigslist has some nice subs at a much discounted price. If you're serious about your rig, then i'd probably look at spending at least 200-300 so you don't look at upgrading down the line. Pretty much anything below 150 is going to be a stepping stone for a future upgrade. Get something of good quality so it can last you at least until your next windfall.

Yes I checked craigslist. Found a couple of proud owners that were selling subs at above current retail.. LOL. One buy was selling a Polk wireless and linking to the Polk site MSRP to show its value. He was asking $260 used when you can get it new for $224 shipped. I pointed that out and offered him $180 and he got ugly.

I went ahead with the S12 at $100 for now. I can sell at minimal loss and upgrade later if I decide to. It sounds really good to me. Exceeds the Logitech I had so Im happy for the time being.

Thank you, i'm safe we are high and dry here. The closest rive to us is the amite and it hasn't been high at all this entire time. I certainly hope the affected have a quick recovery though.
