listened to some hooked to adcom gear i was auditioning and purchased.

He wants too much right now 250 bucks, especially considering foam surrounds on woofers are gone, but they sounded pretty damn good and are solid oak and heavy. would love to hear with all drivers working.

Anyone heard healthy ones, and suggestions on price?

By the way also has kappas with same problem, both sets are pretty close to perfect cosmetically, and tweets and mids perform fine although foam on mids have to be on last legs.

Kinda interesting to find out the crescendos were built for circuit city using kappa parts, and bigger heavier cabs.

if i remember correctly 3008, will look some up later today, they are big , very heavy for circuit city type stuff, solid oak, the woofer and, i believe, the mid cones, are shiny and sorta like record grooved, weird description, but if it helps for now.

    IMG woofers (Injection Molded Graphite).
I have the 3007's and love them, would never part ways with them.
If you biwire them, or biamp, they sing like few in their (used) price range.
I have had mine for 10 yrs. and they will not be going anywhere, so IMHO they are worth fixing.
    Bad news:
You will probably have to have them done as they are a PITA to refoam.
Would probably cost roughly $200-$300 to have them done the right way.
Try Speakerworks out of Tulsa Oklahoma, they are well known for their Infinity refoam work.
Very highly regarded in surround repair.

I have a mint pair of Kappa 9 speakers. The woofers needed to be refoamed - I had Millersound in Pa. do the refoaming and was very pleased with results and cost.

Admittedly, im not world wise when it comes to fine sound quality, but i do know when it sounds as if the band is right in the room, and even though the largest speakers are in tatters, you just dont want the cd player to be turned off.

    Scotty,
Another place I'd recommend to work on those woofers a little closer to you who has alot of expeirence w/ the infinitys is Watkins Stereo in Kingsport, TN. I have 2 pair of Bill Watkins WSC 1A speakers that both need refoamed, and will be taking to him shortly. He apparently was the designer of the double voice coil woofer in those Kappas if memory serves me right.

    mint cond.

I know i could find ugly ones a lot cheaper, have been pro refoamed, and used very lightly by owners now deceased son, who was a classical music composer.

Now how much of the story i believe i dont know.but pics are beautiful.

Would be driving 2 hours, as will he to meet, and i will BEAT HIS **** if they are not as they look in pics and described.

had been looking for 3008s because thats what we heard in the home of the guy we bought our adcom stuff, his had rotted foam, so only the polydome mid and emit tweets were working, but wow.

Also, these are not the polydomes, like the 3008s, and i believe the 09s have ribbon emit tweets as opposed to the emit rs on 3007s

IMO the Emits are better. However you have to be more aware of the wrinkling or cracking that might occur.
