Yeah I waited until I bought it before I posted here since I was scared they would sell out. Now I sort of have a problem. One too many subwoofers.Fronts: Monitor 20s

Can this sub compare to an Epik Legend? The 505 seems to have a lot of admirers.

Haven't heard either one but yes it does. Heard it was the best PSW sub.Fronts: Monitor 20s

I have serious doubts the PSW505 is really going to stand toe to toe with an Epik Legend.
The Legend is designed to be faster and more accurate. It can handle HT and music duty. I find I like sealed subs FAR more than vented ones and the Legend is a sealed design that diggs deeper than the 505...
The PSW505 is a great sub for the money, but the Legend is one tough sub to beat. -

No.
The 505 is one of the best subs at the $200 or so price point and holds its own to a point. It gets pretty low, around 23Hz if I remember correctly and is a very musical sub. Works pretty awesome for HT too. However it cannot stand up to the epik or most other internet direct subs. It is the best PSW series sub and will spank the rest of the psw line up all day and twice on sundays. Folks on a budget should definitely check this sub out.
The most comparable competitor to the 505 is the Bic F12. A lot of folk consider the bic to better for HT over the 505...and there is likely a certain amount of validity to that statement, but I think the 505 is better musically. And since my set up is about 50/50 HT and music I went with the polk and am very happy I did. Some day I will try different/better subs, but for now the 505 is where its at for me.
The newer polk DSW subs are supposed to a might better then this one too, but I havent heard one yet, let alone afford one at the moment.:frown:
Im runnin 2 505s in conjunction with my monitor 70s, 60s and cs2 and I love it...even more so when I figure what it cost me for my set up. -
I just finished helping a family member install a new HT w/ an Epik Legend and compared to my 505, it's a lot more accurate and sounds significantly better with music - even at low volumes. The 505 hits as hard, but the Legend is just more controlled - and I think the sealed design helps.ALL BOXED UP for a while until I save up for a new place
