Would you?

I have the chance to pick up a pair of Klipsch VF-36 speakers for $250.00. These were demo speakers and have a little bit of cosmetic wear but are in good condition overall and sound nice. For the money...good deal or no?

    MSRP is over 900 a pair so I'd say that's a pretty good deal if you 'really' like horns? These speakers are not my particular bag, but at that price I'm more than sure that some would be tickled pink to have a pair?

    I never spend on something just cause its a deal, If your into horn tweeters, And like the Klipsch sound its a steal, Otherwise, spend your cash on something you really want, Id rather spend more on something i like, than get a deal, and know its not as good as what would have made me happy.
    Not an Audiophile, just a dude who loves music, and decent gear to hear it with.

    surfer....I am so new to audio and I the only speakers I have now are a pair of Polk Audio TSi100's and a pair of Klipsch VB-15's. I have alternated between the two sets listening to the two and I do like the Klipsch I have.

    what's the main difference between the "horns" and others?

    As a rule horns are a very 'efficient' design. Which means that almost any amp can drive them. On the other hand they 'often' tend to be a bit bright and forward because of that, meaning that they cause some listener fatigue for many of us after a period. They can also be a bit 'edgy'. However, when paired with something like a good tube-amp they are often more musical and easier to listen too.

    They are also a good choice for Home Theater applications because their high sensitivity gives them a lot of 'slam' and a quick dynamic response that works well with DVD and Blu-ray soundtracks.

    So I'd say if 'you' 'like' horns then go for them. It doesn't matter what 'we' think since you have your own set of ears and preferences and there is not unanimity regarding horns here, in any case.

    thanks cnh...actually think I will pick them up...use the TSi 100's for the bedroom and then look to have a music room and try to pick up some vintage Polk for that...at least that is my plan today..lol
