Budgets are a pain when you're on one, I'm on one

I'm in a position to pick up a pair of RTiA9s but not the matching CSiA6.

I currently have a CS2. Should this do the job for now (with some tweaking) until I can pick up the new center?

The CS2 should be fine for now.

    Upgrade as you can.

After 60 views and one reply, I can take that to mean only one thing, ALL are in agreement. I was hoping for few to chime in for some "averaged" reassurance but I guess it's not to be.

Thanks Upstate for the encouragement. I suppose I'll find out soon enough how the three will blend together. They'll be running off the XPA-3 so should be able to get 'em dialed in good enough until I can add the matching center. No sweat.

I'm sure it will work alright for temporary use. I'm guessing most people haven't tried that combination before, and so that's most likely why there isn't much to be said about it yet.

Can you let me know what you think of the upgrade over the M70's once you get the A9's? I was looking at upgrading to 7's or 9's in the future anyway. I decided to go with the XPA-5 amp first. Speakers will come later.

I have ran a CS2 with my A5's for at least 2 years now. It blends in just fine and honestly i see no point in getting a new center as like i said it blends no problem with the rtia line.
If he wants to change it out later thats just as good but not a MUST.

Yeah it will work no problem. Most have prob never heard that combination so cant really comment. It will be fine for as long as you like it.

I ran my Lsi 25s without a center for a while and the left and right blended so well that it sounded like there was a center. If you are unhappy with how the CS2 mixes with the Rtis then try it without and see if you are happy with that as an interim solution.

When I did get the LSiC I did note an improvement having only the two towers in the front stage but it worked nicely nonetheless while I saved for the center speaker.

Nope, there's no possible way that it will work. The two speakers will cancel each other out and create the phenomenon that's known as reverse noise.

Damn, I know some folks who could use one of those speakers for their wife. Gives a whole new meaning to the saying, "Honey, could you grab me the remote".

I did sort of the opposite recently. I have a pair of RT1000p mains that I added the CSiA6 to (the old center had died a while ago). I got a great deal on the CSiA6 ($150), and I figured I would update the mains soon anyway. If I A/B the center and the mains, the treble sounds very different, but I think they sound fine together (I don't really do a lot critical listening in room - mostly just watching TV).

As others said, give it a chance and see how you like it.
