This morning in Pittsburgh, an elementary school kid handed out bundles of heroin packets to all the other kids in his class. He had them in his backpack. The kid probably saw people dropping by the house, getting the packets, and getting all giddy as they left. The perfect gift for the other kids.

I would like to have seen Mom & Dad's faces when the knock came on the door, and the news got broke.

The charges were dropped, and it happened over a month ago.

So what does that say about the little **** top on your block that is into self mutilation? I hate to think what mommy and daddy are doing.

I did not catch the news broadcast from the beginning, so I got the impression it happened today. They mentioned absolutely nothing about charges being filed against anyone, nor the subsequent dropping of all charges against the mom.

No where in the article does it say the mother had no involvement or ownership of the drugs...just that they could not prove ownership or from who the kid actually obtained the drugs. Anyone that thinks this mother is not somehow associated with the drugs is a fool. Still investigating.

The kid has a really good start on life. He should enjoy it now. The life expectantly of drug dealers seems to be somewhat shorter than the average citizen. Teens vs....70s or 80s.

George was right, this happened yesterday. The event referenced by williamM2 was an older news event.

Seems like Pittsburgh has done quite well with its own version of the "Head Start" program in developing young drug dealers...

Yeah, we hear about stories like this all the time. I don't think Pittsburgh is different from many larger cities. This Country as a whole has a real problem with declining values. We could all debate the reason, high divorce rates, the job market requiring two working parents, peer pressure blah, blah.

I think the one of the main reasons is the decline in moral values.

Wow, I had read the other story a few weeks ago. Can't believe that happened twice, in the same area.

Chynita Young, 25, of Homewood, was freed without bail last week by District Judge Kim Hoots at the district attorney's request. Mike Manko, a spokesman for the district attorney's office, said at the time that there was "no purpose is served by her continuing to be behind bars."

This paragraph is appauling... No purpose??? How about keeping her from dealing drugs and away from kids, especially her own?

Damn drugs there everywhere. My girls go to a small rural school and they were telling us today of some of the drug use amongst the 11-14 yr olds.It was shocking to us to think how young these kids are getting drawn into it.The common denominator with these kids seemed to be they were from broken families and parents who are addicted themselves or just don't care.

Why discipline the boy though? I don't why the school would do that. In any event the parents should be held fully responsible. At 7 you don't really know what the heck heroin looks like. For all he knew it was shitload of "magic" in the house and he wanted to share.
