I dont know if I am looking at the right tubes as there is a ton of tubes from all different years but the title description is what I am told I should be searching for

I found some here http://cgi.ebay.com/4-Vintage-Amperex-Bugle-Boy-6DJ8-ECC88-Stereo-Tubes-/180657246619?pt=Vintage_Electronics_R2&hash=item2a1002d19b#ht_500wt_922

would these be good pre tubes ?

Amperex NOS tubes are great; You need a four pack?

Well I'm kinda in the dark about tubes but I find myself leaning towards a quad pack of the genalex 6922 to get the most out of the panels on my martin logans .

Zingo you described the genalex as being "Very tight and punchy bass, with plenty of weight, Very lively and exciting, A more forward midrange, A clean top end (not bright or edgy, but not what I would call "sweet"), Plenty of detail

How would you or george describe the amperex nos tubes as sounding as I will go with a quad set of either shortly

here's a good read-- scroll down to the 6DJ8 section

    http://www.audioasylum.com/scripts/d.pl?audio/faq/joes-tubes.html

--for me,,the real Amperex's have a nice midrange with a hint of warmth-- but tubes are something that kinda grow on you(at least me),, I base my opinions over time spent listening to them,,small signal tubes do not have night/day differences initially to my old ears,,I think the important thing is,,whatever you get,,make sure it's the real deal,,buy from someone who is reputable and knowledgable,,whether it's here or elsewhere,,go luck,,and have fun.

What pre are you putting them in?

I will be putting these in a low end yaqin mc10l pre section

thats a very informative read on that link george and thanks, there are a lot of variations of the same tube all with very distinctive sounds that I did not know of . I will have to read this article over again as it will make it less complicated to choose what I want when selecting tubes

The Gold Lions are my first choice unless I need added warmth and tubey-ness. In all but one application, they were the best choice to my ears. Plus, I would trust a matched quad of them because they are new tubes and the seller doesn't have to find four in the bin that match...
