I am neither selling anything here nor advertizing for the seller and eBay. I have no affiliation with the seller.

But I think this Aragon Aurum pre is worth mentioning coz it sounds very good and for not a lot of coins. IMO, it sounds neutral while paired with many different Solid State Amplifiers.

This is one of best preamp Aragon ever made in it's history. But it does not has a remote control but does come with both XLR and Balanced Inputs and Outputs and a nice outboard power supply.

A few people including myself tried and compared Aurum with more popular Adcom GFP-750 and it seems the Aurum has an edge in overall performance. And with less than the cost of the GFP-750, it seems a keeper to me.

So, if you are in the market for a preamp or two (actually the seller seems to have two Aurum), you may be in for a little surprise for not a lot of coins.

I saw that the other day too. Pair that with an Aragon 8008 and you're in some serious business.

I am currently saving up for a nice Pre to go with either my SDA 2A's or my Dads 1.2TL's... Both sets with RDOs

I was really hoping to get an Adcom gfp-750 but this Aragon looks like a nice choice as well. I don't have the resources to "try" either at the moment but what do you guys think? I like what I've heard about the gfp-750 but if I can get great sound for less, then... well.

I know its a lot about synergy/personal preference and I won't know until I try but I like to read up and get info from experienced listeners before I buy when I can.

The 1.2TLs are being driven by Two NAD 218's and the 2A's are getting power from an Adcom GFA-555

With Regards to the Aurum, it was Aragon's Top of the Line Preamp with true balanced circuitry. While it does not work as passive unit or have a remote capability, I think it sounds better than my friends GFP-750 in both active or passive mode. And it cost more than GFP-750 when it was new.

But you won't see Aurum for sale as often as GFP-750. But the best of all, the price that they were sold on eBay makes a no brainer. It is a very solid preamp for very little coins.
