Finally picked up an amp. I picked up off craigslist for $150 and included a Parasound p/sp 1500 pre. I hooked up over the weekend leaving the parasound pre out and used my HK354 as my pre.

So to get to the dirt was wondering if it would be a good idea to get the adcom serviced since it's nearly 16 years old. Hooked up and their is no hummming. when calibrated with hk ez setup all 5 channels worked. I don't hear any distortion between the channels. everything seems to work fine.

I'm wondering because I'm not completely won over on the amp. On some cd's it seems to open everything up and sound great like Allison Kraus standard cd and Pink Flyod on SACD, but other music like Adele new disc it kind of muddies the highs and on others it's neither improves or degrade.

Blu-ray movies not much improvement which is a big disappointment!

Biggest improvement was on the Cable- much improved sound.

Was wondering if the amp needs a tune up just like a car to make it really shine or is there something else going on?

I would hook up the parasound pre if anyone has suggestions on how to do so with still being able to run the video HDMI part that the HK allows.

From the usual post about Adcom amps maybe Ben62670 has some advise.
