If it aint broke? Thinking of replacing the resistors on my LSi Crossovers.

I already replaced caps and resistors on my LSiC but after seeing the condition of the resistors in there, and the fact that I bought all of my speakers used, I am thinking of replacing the resistors in the rest of my lineup. Any thoughts?

I would be replacing resistors on 2 LSiFXs and 2 LSi15s

If your going to do that you might as well just do the full crossover upgrade (on at least the 15's) and do a 1 and done. Just my .02 cents

That is not an easy task on the 15's.

LOL...trust me I am aware. I plan to have someone from the forum willing to do mine at some point as I refuse to undertake them myself. For exactly that reason

I've replaced just the resistors on a pair of speakers before and there was an improvement in sound quality, so I do think it is worth it. You also don't have to deal with layout issues like you do on a recap as MOST resistors can fit in the original spot on the board.

On a pair of Swan speakers, I upgraded the resistors to Jantzen MOX, which improved the clarity and openness of the speakers with that upgrade alone.

I would definitely consider recapping at least some of the crossover while I had it out, but I'm not trying to end up with external crossovers or anything like that. Does anyone have a schematic of the LSi-15? I cant find it anywhere.

All the schematics were available unitl a little while ago, however I snagged copeis. Send me a PM and I can hoo you up. In the next few weeks (assuming no Canada Post strike) I plan to venture down the crossover upgrade road. A few mills resistors and Sonicaps and apparantely you can launch these speakers into a whole new region.

What "condition" were the resistors exactly when you popped open everything? Modern? Perfectly acceptable? Or were you swept up in the must replace everything for no real reason drama?

You know what works just as good as a schematic, if not better since they're sometimes wrong? Reading the value off the actual part to be replaced.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I haven't taken the crossover out of the lsi15s yet, only the lsic. The resistors in the center were blackened, as if they had some resin or glue on them that had burnt and scorched. I don't want to take anything apart more than once (it was kind of a pain getting the xover out of the lsic) and I want to get my system back together as quick as possible, so If I order the parts I can do everything in one session(providing the schematic is correct). Everything was bought used so I assume they have been driven hard and there are a lot of people suggesting that the resistors are undersized for the speakers so they might be damaged.

Sonic Craft should have all the resistors you need.
