New set up - pics
I had a hell of a time getting the speaker stands I wanted. Those in Canada know getting what you want is often not easy ... I had to resort to some old 1980's research.
After doing some speaker stand searching I ended up having my heart set on Sanus Ultimate Foundations 34" stands. The only thing was that they were not available locally, Canadian online retailers did not order them and US online retailers were going to charge me 300-400$/shipping for speakers stands that cost around the same. So I contacted Sanus headquarters across the border via the old but reliable telephone then I was directed to Progressive Sales in Missisauga, ONT. They deal with dealers but were willing to make an exception for me because I had no dealers nearby to ship to so they took my order. I did the old fashioned fax them my information and off they were shipped.
Ive added a few pictures of my in-progress dedicated home theater. Just moved 2 months ago so you'll haveto forgive the wires and the lack of furniture in that room ... just ordered a sectional for the room. Ill take some updated pics once that arrives. Those are Rtia3s and FXia4s on the stands. They work very nice, a great deal from gfong another polkie on the forum here. Next purchases will be a dedicated bluray player and then off to upgrade my subwoofer.

Wow that's a great listening atmosphere. I'm trying to set up something like that in my home office but I have a 7' L shaped desk in there and about 2000 books on shelves that line a 10 x 17 x 8.5' space. Not much room ...but very 'few' reflections! More of a 3.1 system with the emphasis on 2 channel?

That is a very nice setup. Can I ask what your using for surrounds on your rig. I think I see LSi 25's for your fronts so I assume you've got a LSiC center."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." The room is 23 x 20 I think but with the sloped ceilings makes it seem smaller. It is a great listening room as my girlfriend says she could barely here anything when she was on the main floor of the house. The house is an old century home and that is actually the third floor attic converted over so there is a floor between the main and upstairs floor so I can blast it!
cnh: With the sloped ceiling the audio specialty store owner said that I should have fewer reflections in the room like yourself with the books and desk and all absorbing the sound.
Ender: You are right that is a pair of LSi25s and an LSiC. I didnt bother matching my surrounds with the front stage as the LSi series just like the speaker stands I got are difficult to get up in Northern Ontario and I think Im going to be going in another direction with speakers once I start upgrading my speakers. -

I picked up a used Rtia3s and used Fxia4s from a fellow polkie. A great deal and they were like new with everything down to all the packaging inserts, plastic wrap and so on.
I never heard the Rtia line prior to this purchase and I was pleasantly surprised.

Gotcha. At some point at a much later date in life I am debating running a full 7.1 LSi system with 15's as fronts (or maybe 25's if I can find them in good condition), and side surrounds w/ LSi F/x's as rear surrounds.
There are a bunch of upgrades that need to happen before that thought (new TV and new amp for 7 LSi's)"....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963) -
That room has a ton of potential for a projector(Epson) and screen(motorized from Monoprice or HTDepot). Keep it going though, don't stop there. Looks great bro. Screen would come down in front of your TV set in a 2 way setup. Get yourself a set of matte black window blinds (any other dark color will work), and you will be set. It doesn't take much to come over to the darkside.
Just throwing some ideas at ya.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

Oh trust me a projector is on my future upgrades list :biggrin:say two years ... Kind of on the fence between motorized screen vs building a false wall and having a static screen up. There is however plenty of time to debate that.
Thanks for flaring up my upgraditis further

Two yrs? Are you sure? Star Wars is heading coming to Blu-Ray shortly. Surely you'll want to see that on a 100 inch plus screen.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

Were those LSi25 naughty and standing next to the wall as punishment? If not, get them at least a foot away from the front wall and you'll get much tighter bass and better imaging. You listening position doesn't have to move. Make sure to recalibrate your speaker levels and distances though.
