My First Website

Hey all,
My mom and a few others opened a restaurant in Palm Springs, and they "hired" me to do their website for them.
They've actually been open for a month or so but I just thought "hey I should show the Polk guys the site and get some feedback." So... here it is
http://www.twistedpalmsprings.com
Any feedback on the design or content would be appreciated.
Also, if anyone is in the area or traveling through, please stop by and give them a try. I've known the head chef for a few years and she is truly gifted with food.

Nice design overall, but there's a type on the first page. The note at the bottom says taht you're closed on Tuesdays, but then Hours to the side show that you're closed on Wednesdays, may wanna straighten that out there on the page

Hire a new photographer. The shallow depth of field is not what you want for pictures of the food. Someone must think they are sort of artsy. But they are very distracting and not very good IMO."Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais

Gah, you're the second person who's said that, but I can't reproduce it on my end. It's something about columns not lining up on the right side, but I can't figure out why certain people experience it. Mind telling me what browser you're using? I've tested on IE, Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Opera and they all show Tuesday as Closed.
Even better, could you screengrab it for me?Hire a new photographer. The shallow depth of field is not what you want for pictures of the food. Someone must think they are sort of artsy. But they are very distracting and not very good IMO.
I completely agree with this, but it is out of my hands, i just have to work with what I'm given as far as the photos. If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -
The first picture I see is dessert! Love it.
I cannot produce the closed on Wednesday error. I'm on IE8 with a 24" monitor. Hope that helps with the feedback. -
I see the closed/Wednesday thing. Running Mac/Firefox/1280x800 resolution. I get the same thing on Safari: Is it a resolution-based issue?

I get the same appearance as agfrost. Using FF 4.01"Don't forget to change your politician. They are like diapers they need to be changed regularly, and for the same reason."

On my end, I see a "Closed on Tuesday"; no "Wednesday" problem.
Under the "Twisted Bistro Hours", where it shows:
"MONDAY-SATURDAY :
BRUNCH - 8AM-2PM
CLOSED - 2PM-4PM
HAPPY HOUR - 4PM-6PM
DINNER - 5PM-10PM
SUNDAY :
BRUNCH - ALL DAY 8AM-3PM"
...the color shows up as a Faded Grey ( like an Inactive Link kind of thing).
Suggest making that a darker color.
Looks good overall. The pictures are good but do have a sort of "Nouveau" kind of style. Not bad but a little stark; the photo guys on here will have to make some suggestions on that.
Good luck to your mom, looks like a good start !
If I happen to make it through the area, I'll stop in .... probably steal some silverware as a momento.Sal Palooza -

By weird coincidence, the owner emailed me last night and changed the hours so they're no longer closed mid-day, which should fix any issues with the hours lining up. Thanks again to those of you who helped me trace that problem down; I had a customer email me via the site a week or so ago and it's been driving me nuts since. If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -
looks good to me. I like the photos.

Maybe a nice photo or two of the inside/outside of the place on the Directions page? I looked at every menu link (I think?) and could not find one, just thought it would be helpful when you're trying to get there for the first time?
I would lose the links at the very top right of the home page as well, they seem redundant since the same information can be found in the link bar below the restaurants' name (ie. Home, Location, About Us, etc.).
I would also suggest keeping consistent with pricing info; on the Catering page, "$" signs are used before price numbers, but on the "Menu" page there are just numbers sans dollar signs. I get the idea on the cost of the items, just think you should stick with either price format rather than both.
I really like the fact that photos of different menu choices are displayed. I also like the ease of use of the site, you can navigate back to any place on the site no matter where you search. Great job on the overall design, IMO.So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

I've asked repeatedly for some pictures of the exterior and interior (I live 3000 miles away, it's tough to take any myself) but have been unsuccessful in getting them so far. I"ll ping them again on that one.If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -

IMO;
If the online menu could be a reflection of the hardcopy menu where you could flip the pages (starting with the hours of operations). This is again IMO, I never been to keen about clicking on some that tells me "under construction. IMO, if it does not exist yet it should not be there (exception of feed back since you start by requesting of course).
Still, overall a very appealing website! Congrats on a job well done (especially for your first time experience). :cool:DARE TO SOAR:
