I realize the a7's are floorstanding but has anyone ever placed then ON top of a 3 foot cabinet? What will this do to the sound? I am only considering this since I have no room on the floor for them. (I have not yet purchased them).
Just a thought.

That would place the tweeters at about 7 feet off the floor which is far above a normal listening level in a seated position. I have RTiA7's in my HT setup and in a lazy boy style chair the tweeters are at about ear level which is right where they should be. Plus have the speakers that high off the floor you are bound to loose some bottom end (bass output) as well. I strongly recommend against this move.

I am limited by the furniture that is in the room. I have a 58" plasma on the wall. A 7 foot oak media center under the plasma. There is a 7 foot tower (wifes crap) on each side of the media center. No room for the speakers on the floor but they will fit on the oak media center on each side of the plasma with out blocking the TV.

You would be better off getting a pair of bookshelf speakers would can be mounted at the correct level.
