What's your top 5 on the "Upgrade List"?

1. Tube DAC or TOTL Musical Fidelity CD player

2. Cheap HT receiver with pre-outs (Most likely Yamaha)

3. Mono block for center speaker

4. LSiC (maybe with an LSi9 x-over)

5. LSi7 for surrounds

I'm sure that by the time I get to the LSi stuff, Polk will already have introduced the second generation of their LSi series. So if I can find the LSi cheap during clearance, they'll move up the list.

Oops, I forgot to mention that an SVS can suddenly appear anywhere on the list;).

    1. sub more likely an SVS, might also be a HSU, or Velo

    2. new TV i was at CC last night looking at the Panasonic Tau flat screen HDTV ones. 36" looked amazing in 16:9 format. Picture was clear, sharp, and the hues and skin tones were right dead on. Black levels were beautiful. Not at all the grey/bluish ones some TV's pump out.

    3. a couple more good quality interconnects

    4. nada

    5. nada

    Madmax,

vibrapods on amps? I haven't heard of that one before. What benefits would you get adding them? I can understand vibrapods on a CD or DVD player.

Sure! Many components such as capacitors and coils ring or osillate when they are vibrated. For example in my preamp I can flick one of the switches (mechanical jolt) and hear a very high pitched soft "ting" sound. Probing around inside I could hear this ting when I tapped on certain caps. This gets transfered into the signal. I have tubes as well which are even worse. I could go into my "magic brick" story at this point but I'm sure most people have already heard it. :D

Organ, For a student - you seem to be rolling in cash.
I'd say, I've got a pretty modest career going and finding it hard to keep up to my audio needs/wants.

I'm a little suspicious of your income source. ;):p

I don't make much money. I make most of my money during the summer when I'm out of school and get some extra hours at work. You also have to remember that I live with my parents and I don't drive:).
My last big purchase was the NAD seperates. I traded my Oink for the Dynakit and the ASL was only $442CDN(shipping included). I still feel bad about the NAD stuff, especially the "clinical/analytical" sounding pre-amp. The NAD amp will be used to power the surrounds when I upgrade.
See, I'm movig still moving very slowly.
I'm planning to work for 7-8 years when I'm finised school, save up a buttload of cash, get a loan from the bank and open up a small audio shop. I'd like to sell a lot of tube equipments from ASL.

You might be right about that whole cheaper system thing. My rooms not to big, about 12x12 feet. I use my current system mostly for gaming. Anything goes with price and placement. My room is only for my home theater. Any suggestions?

I am looking for a part time job maybe a sales consultant at the local circuit city, best buy, what have you. bout 25 hours a week.
My experience with the Lsi series is the setup at my dads house. It sounds incredible to say the least. His system consists of:
    2 Lsi25s
    LsiC
    2 Lsi9s
    PSW650
Dont know about the receiver except that it's Denon's flagship model

No receiver has been found except B&K that can really man-handle the LSi. Even then, its not as good as seperates.

When you get the LSi, your looking at atleast a grand in seperates, 400-500 in a receiver (with preouts). GOOD wire, atleast IXOS and up. A good changer (100-200 dollars).

Your system will be only as good as the weakest link....

O.K, Sean your right. There are receivers that cost outside this world on the money meter. But for 1,300 or so you can get an awesome seperates system that can rule the LSi and then some.

    1. Tube pre (Carver C-19 would be nice but you hardly EVER see those)
    2. Universal DVDA/SACD/CD/whatever player
    3. SVS sub to replace Pdime in HT
    4. Separate pre/pro for HT so I can shed the wannabe label
    5. Juicy fat monoblock amps
I dunno, I'm getting to the point of where I can't really think about what as far as upgrades go.

The vinyl thing is all but in the bag, I need to get that rolling before I start thinking about upgrading it.
