Hi,

I'm looking to purchase speakers for my brand new already wired dedicated theater room. The room is soundproofed with Quietrock. My budget is approx. $1000-$1200. I am a real newbie to home theaters and speakers. Could you recommend some speakers?

Here some details of my room:
1. Speakers (5 wall mounted ONLY speakers: Front R/L and center, Back L/R, and Subwoofer (if needed)) budget: approx. $1000-$1200.
2. Room dimensions: 18.5 x 14
3. Room location: basement
4. Equipment: Epson 8350 Projector, Fixed Screen, Yamaha 867 Receiver
5. 2 rows of seats. Front row ~12 ft away from screen. Back row ~16 ft away from screen on 8 inch platform.
6. Ceiling Height: 8.5 ft in most of the room but there is a bulkhead above the back row seats. Height above back room seats is 7.75 ft.
7. Seating in the room will have approx. 4 people/row and 2 rows so maximum number of people in the room will be 8.
8. Dedicated projection home theather room. No windows.
9. See picture for projector mounting location, screen location, seating, media closet, speakers, and entry door (not to scale)

Thanks,
Tim

I would consider a pair of towers for up front. RTI A's for $520 a pair from polk's ebay store, or wait for a Pair of RTI A7's to come up on polk's ebay store.

If you must have wall mounted book shelf speakers then look at the RTIA3's $399 a pair retail.

CSI A4 Center channel for $199 from polks ebay store, or a CSI A6 $400 Retail.

FXI's for the Surrounds. FXI A6's in white from Polk's ebay store $330 or FXI A4's retail (black or white) for $399

You will need a sub. For a budget look at the PSW 505 for $229 from new egg.
    AVR: Onkyo Tx-NR808
    Amplifier: Carver A-753x 250 watts x 3
Fronts: Polk RTI A7 (modded by Trey VR3)
Center: CSI A4 (modded by Trey VR3)
    Rear: FXI A4
    Sub: Polk DSW Pro 660wi
    TV: LG Infinia 50PX950 3D
    Speaker Cable: AudioQuest Type 8
    IC: AudioQuest Black Mamba II

You might also look at onecall.com for open box deals. They are an authorized retailer and open box items carry a full warrantee. A pair of RTi A3's are $318.92, the CSi A6 is the same price

I would think biggest bang for your buck would be M70s/CS2 from Newegg with possibly some FXiA4/FXi3 for the sides and M30/40 for the rear. Then get you a decent sub with whats left over.

Yep moniters would save you some cash but the RTI line is do able with in the budget and a much better speaker line especially for home theater.

    Welcome to CP!

If your going to have a dedicated room, I'd use up your budget this round on speakers, and save up 50% of what you have spent on that for a sub. Don't sell yourself short on a sub, and if you decide to go with a budget sub, buy two! As someone once told me when I was sub shopping, go big or go home! Good luck!
