Hello guy,
I was curious to know what most of you guys use to clen your gear. Most of my stuff is black plastic fronts w/ mteal black cabinets. My Infinitys are real wood or at least veneer. For me I was given a spray bottle of Monster Screen cleaner, some q tips and pledge for the speakers. Anything better or is what I'm using not so good. I do keep my stuff free of dust and it's in pretty good
shape.Thanks.

Real chamois well wrung with hot water. It will keep your plastic display faces looking like new. Ask anyone who has bought equipment from me. Chamois also works perfectly for any flat screen HDTV surface. I've never used any chemical on my equipment or speakers.

Go to pep boys or auto zone--shoot even wally world has real leather chamois in the auto department. Cut it in half and 2 for the price of 1.

Don't ever use it on your car though, brake dust will trash a plastic display face.

opps, Auto zone doesn't have real chamois? That's crazy. Also try Sears, K-Mart, etc.

I just bought one of those electronic dusters and it is very nice. I'll wipe any fingerprints off with a polishing cloth. I rarely touch my equipment though, so I never get prints.

Endust for Electronics works really well. Use a lint free cloth.

I used to find "Nice n Clean" wipes/towelettes for electronics at wallyworld but, they don't stock them anymore. They were great for faceplates and monitor screens etc. Hope they'll be restocked. This ebayer has them but at 2.5 times what wally had them for.:frown:

    Hot water is real cheap.

Have any of you ever seen black components (usually older) that look like a dark plum color in the sun? I'm convinced that this is a direct result of some sort of chemical being used (windex, pledge, etc, etc). That's why I don't use any chemicals anymore.

    Just my 2 cents.

This much I can tell you, DO NOT use paper towels on plastic display faces.

Micro-fiber is plenty soft, but if you don't wring it really well, it leaves drops/smearing behind.

My cleaning process and materials are a well kept secret with zero reported problems in 15 years. The only product I use pretty exclusively is CAIG.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.
