This preamp just up on craigslist, not a bad price. It would be paired with a gfa7300.I now have it with a harman kardon avr25II with the gfa7300.Would this be a step up or two steps back? The h.k. doesn't sound bad just wondering if this would sound better?Am I just beating my head on a wall looking for better? This pre has a 5 channel stereo mode, the H.K.has a3 channel mode. What do you more experienced people think?

Don't know your pre...but, as Sal, points out and I think he has one in his system, the GFP-750 is the best two channel pres Adcom ever put out. So if you have a good price on that?

I owned that pre/pro for a couple of years, not bad.
The 5 channel stereo is neat, really works well.
I had it set up with a GFA-5800 for fronts, & a GFA-5503 for rears & center.
I thought it sounded great until I swapped it out for a B&K ref 30, it was like night & day!!
The 750 was very shrill & plain, no depth at all.
I've never listened to the HK, so I guess it could be a step up.
My opinion on the GTP-750 -
That's not a GFP-750, I see...it's the GTP which is a HT pre?
Can't really comment on that...but it's not in the same league as the GFP-750 two channel for which a good price would be 650-700 used.

The GTP-750 entirely different than GFP-750. Not even on the same planet as the GTP has a built in tuner and is a mediocre sounding pre-amp.

Thanks I guess I will look at something else I'm not looking for a mediocre sounding pre-amp.It did get good reviews on stereophile mag.But Ill take the opinions here.

It's mostly because it does HT processing and has a tuner. Too many things stuffed in there. The HT processing is ancient.
I think it would be more of a lateral move.

Have to chime in here! I've had the 750 and I found it too harsh and bright for my taste(like a warmer less colored image! Even had a 500 with same results. Don't know what your budget is but I tried a b&k 20 than the ref. 30 and still have it,much better all around! More accurate without coloration cleaner and much better 2ch results. More safistcated and accurate! At least with my parasound.figure about 350. To 450.00 deppending on condt. And provanance. A very good buy! The b&k out proformed many others also in side-by-side shoot-outs on my sys. I am upgrading to a 70 when I can find the right one. Mine is on craigs list in my area and when sold it will be replaced only by a b&k 70. Have been very pleased with b&k and don't have any complaints at all. Also easy to sell when you want to upgrade, had more trouble moving the adcoms than the b&k when I upgraded models.Main Rig:

Adcom makes/made 2 decent pre-amps and one stellar pre-amp.
GFP-710 and 715 are pretty good, especially for the money used.
the GFP-750 is an outstanding pre-amp.
The GTP series have tuners in them hence the "T" designation and were never what I considered an "audipophile" caliber pre-amp. Some of the GTP series were also for HT and by today's standard are outdated........they never sounded all that good.

I have a GTP 500II and a B&K Reference 31 and My ears prefer the GTP. I have the Reference 31 connected to a B&K ST 140 in another room and they work well together. My favorite preamp is my GFP 565 . connected to a 5800 and my B&W 801s all of which I've had for about 15yrs. The preamp, amp and speakers are ancient and outdated but so am I and we go together quite well.TO ERR IS HUMAN. TO FORGIVE IS CANINE.

Doesn't the GFP 750 have HT bypass? -

Yes, it does. It's a processor loop input and output that can be used for any stand alone piece. I run my tube pre-amp thru it when I want to listen to tubes.
