Is there a good setup for recording the music off of a record to a digital format?
I have seen little cheap ones in the Sky Mall magazine, there has to be something that would offer better reproduction. Curious, just dabbling into vinyl, would like to add my new purchases to my digital library.

    you could look at perhaps look at the music Hall USB turntable - $250 from Music hall, full turntable with a builtin in phono pre that is defeatable, which make good Entry level turntables or I think NAD has a new phono pre that has USB output as well that would allow you to record to your pc.
    Main 2ch -
    BlueSound Node->Ethereal optical cable->Peachtree Audio Nova 150->GoldenEar Triton 2+
    TT - Pro-ject Classic SB with Sumiko Bluepoint.

    TV 3.1 system -
    Denon 3500 -> Dynaudio Excite 32/22

    I've been using an Audio Technica for the last 18 months and it has worked out very well for conversions. The Music Hall one mentioned also looks good although I have not used it (although it too uses an Audio Techica stylus). Here's a link to the one I'm using.

    Sony 60'' SXRD 1080p
    Amp = Carver AV-705THX 5-Channel
    Processor = NAD T747
    Panasonic BD35 Blu-Ray
    Main = SDA-1C Studio with RD0s, spikes, XO rebuild, rings, I/C upgrade
    Center=Polk CS10, Surround = Athena Dipoles, Sub= Boston 12HO
    Music/Video Streaming = Netgear NEO550
    TT = Audio Technica

    With the 24/192 (24bit/192 sample rate) getting more popular, it would seem that to digitize good analog sources has become more complex. I have yet to quantify this concept, but it looks like this is the way to roll. Only time will tell.

    Just a observation, and my $0.02 worth.

    Here come da judge!

    My uncle uses the MH version and has been very happy with the ability to transfer his old vinyl. I didn't know about the Audio Technica version and it looks equally capable.
    CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

    I just dropped a bunch of cash for a new turntable, so buying a second one just to transfer to digital is not an avenue I want to take. Looked at the NAD pre-phono, that is more what I have in mind. Something between the phono and my processor that will allow me to capture and copy the signal.
