I'm looking at the Road I.D. bracelets because I run and bike out in the street.

whatisit_wrist.jpg

Questions for EMTs and officers of the law in the event you arrive to find me unconscious on the ground with no wallet and my iphone crushed.
1. Do you guys/gals search for wrist or ankle ID's?
2. Are you guys/gals trained to look for a wrist or ankle ID or is it more a matter of being personally aware of such products?

Questions for owners.
1. Which one did you buy?
2. Does the clasp hold up on either the Sport or Elite bracelet?
3. Please post a testimonial if your bracelet was put to the test.

Thx

I can see an I.D. tag if you have a medical condition, allergys to certain meds, but just because you run or bike in the street ?

As an EMT for 18 years, I have had instructors mention them maybe once or a twice. We don't place too much importance to them. If we find a person unconscious in the street, we have protocols that specify particular treatments.

I personally use one of these: http://www.911familyofproducts.com/

You can keep a small index card next to your license with your Medical history, Meds taken, Any allergies to meds or food and the Name, Address, Phone Numbers of your Doctor, Specialist and Dentist or use a blank sticker to write all the info on it, cover the sticker with a piece of scotch tape and place the sticker in the back of your license.
The Police will search you for ID.

I was taught as a child to not play in the streets.

I use the wrist id sport. I'm on my second one only because we moved and I needed a new address listed. Very comfortable and peace of mind if something happens to me. Highly recommended.

I use the dog tags because when I'm cycling, if I get particularly hard, my wallet my go flying out of my pocket. But I doubt that chain will come off. And, if I'm so hurt I can't talk, they'll probably be opening up my jersey any way. And there it'll be.

We did and I fondly remember those days. These days, I rarely see kids playing outside much less in the street. In 3 months, I've seen 1 girl ride just beyond her driveway before turning back. The only other people I see are a couple of other cyclists like me in full gear (i.e. bike shirt, shorts, helmet, hydration pack), 1 runner who's about 10+ years older than me (see him all the time), 1 younger woman in her 20's running (saw her once), 1 older woman power walking (see her weekly), and 2 heavy set women out for their morning or evening walks (see them all the time). That's everybody.

What I do see all the time are drivers on the phone or texting. One hit my brother and almost clipped his riding partner.

BTW, no Fruit of the Looms because I don't wear underwear when I'm running or cycling.

The Police will search you for ID.

That's what I was most interested in. Many thanks for your feedback.

I'm hoping to hear from WingNut.
