i've read that by replacing the old metal jumpers that are on older receivers can help increase the sound on some older stereo gear. .... anyone know where I can get new ones? are there ones better than others?

They're shorting bars, you can get them from PE and not really.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Is this what you're talking about: http://www.amazon.com/AudioQuest-Male-Male-Preamp-Jumpers/dp/B0006VMBGO?

They sound better than the old steel jumpers that came with my NAD integrated.

You go get a nice peice of solid copper from the local hardware store, and cut and bend. I've done it I don't know how many times. You don't need the ground, just the copper. Cut it, bend it, stick it in. If you want it pretty, contact Frank Dai @ SC and have him make you a pair.

    Cheers,

I have found that the distance from the pre-amp to main jacks are not a standard distance even among the same manufacturer. It is hit or miss finding the proper size pre-fab metal jumper. You are better with custom made jumpers or go with the short interconnects.

I am surprised no one suggested coat hangers yet.

If you're hung up on silver, you should be able to get some 14ga from a jewelry supply for about $20-$30 / foot.

Most of the time so you can put a equalizer in line with the reciever. So you go from reciever -> Equilizer -> Back to reciever. That or so you can use a external amp. My HK 3490 has them as well

This is true. I have a hundred or so of "stock" NAD jumpers and they don't fit every RCA connection.

I'm going to bring this thread back to life as I just solved this issue for myself. I wanted to ditch the steel jumpers, so contacted the supplier of all my other cables, Luminous Audio, and they sent me out a DIY kit as a solution. Tim sent me four of his sliver, locking RCAs, and two short pairs of his silver reference wire. I soldered the connections myself last night, made the plugs, and their great! Highly recommended!

What's the cost on that Zingo? I'd be interested in a pair for the goody box.

I've been chatting with Tim from Luminous, and he is considering offering RCA jumpers that match each of his RCA cables with corresponding terminations and wire. With nothing officially on the table yet, he will send you out the same "DIY jumper kit" I bought from him with the silver, locking RCAs and reference, solid silver wire for $100 a pair. It's a solid package as the silver jumpers removed some fog from my system, and added just enough sparkle that works well with my copper speaker cables. PM me and I'll send you his email address, or he can be reached through the website.

Tim just sent me the pricing on the new RCA jumpers that will be a match to his current ICs; the DIY silver jumper set continues to be an option. This is a very nice option not only for reference quality jumpers, but they will also exactly match you current Luminous Audio ICs. They are not on the website yet, but should be if Tim is a smart guy.
