picked up one of these beefy receivers today.. and I've never heard of them. I understand from reading up, is that it was the house brand for Pacific Stereo back in the day.
this one is the 11.0 110wpc receiver... i guess the one everyone wants is the 16.5 mother of all receivers by this company
any info you old timers can shed on this thing?

If it doesn't have a Sansui badge on the front, I'm afraid I can't help you.
Have any pictures of it ?Sal Palooza -
Does it look like this ?
If so, here's a link:

Shows a poster that rebuilt an older Concept 11.0 that had seen better days. Other posters made some pretty bold statements, IMO:
"P.S., the 11.0 is in my top five of all receivers for sound quality. IMO, it is that good. It is better than any Marantz receiver you care to name including any of the high powered models. The 11.0 is in some ways better sounding than the mighty 16.5. It doesn't hit as hard and is more cultured."
And
"Oh, I totally agree that the 11.0 is better-sounding than the 16.5. While the 16 is great, the 11 is MAGIC.
"
Here's some interesting info from some AudioKarma users:

Rick (aka) Mr BBL,
thanks for the info.. I will do some more reading up on this thing... it is very nice looking... and freakin' heavy.. and yes it does look exactly like the one in the pic.
I have heard that Pacific Stereo had several house brands back in the day of receivers and speakers.. most of which have long since disappeared and most were very forgettable.
I need George Grand to chime in on this discussion. the man has owned or had in his posession most every piece of stereo gear known to man at one time or another..PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

I hooked up the Concept 11.0 and listened to a some CD's.. and was mildly surprised at how good this big receiver sounds. I've never been a fan of older receivers. but this one showed what it could do.
Plenty of power and at least on this unit... all buttons and knobs work as they should... i'll post pics soon.. interesting receiver that most would just bypass if seen at say a yard sale or second hand store...
I paid $30 for it..PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

Where'd you find it, DB?
Bought my first stereo receiver from Pacific Stereo - a house brand Quadraflex. Did everything I wanted it to & never had a problem with it. & Because it was hooked up to only decent stuff, I was happy with it. Don't remember the Concept line - probably because it was out of my range."Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then." Bob Seger -
I found the receiver at a Goodwill type store in North Spokane.. the receiver was in a box on it's side... and by the name.. Concept 11.0 I thought for sure it was going to be a HTIB type unit worth all of $4 or so.
Lifted the box to turn it upright.. and realized it was either a box of bricks or something else was in that big box. I lifted up the lid and styrofoam.. much to my surprise.. it was a big heavy in great condition older silver faced receiver.
Got the smart phone out and quickly looked it up on the net and found out enough about it that I figured I should buy it.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?
