fxi30 high or low

Denon's 3803 will allow surround A or B choices. I am using Rti28's for the pair of back surrounds heavily utilizing the 7-channel stereo mode for music playback. Rti28's and fxi30's will be the two side surround choices. The Rti28's will stay at ear level for music playback almost directly beside the listening position. Here is the dilemma. The Fxi30's, due to room and spousal considerations, must be placed on top of the Rti28's (ugh) or on the wall at about 8 feet above the floor. I thought about a slight downward angle but I don't want to patch and paint the walls after my tryout sessions (ref. spousal deal). Does anyone have ideas and or experience with fore and aft and high and low Fxi30 placement.
Also can anyone hear the difference between dipole and bipole playback on the Fxi30's?

    Get a couple of step ladders and use them as temporary stands while you try out your speakers in various positions.

    That was my first idea but have been trying to figure out how to get the Fxi30's high enough (around 8').

    8' step ladder, you should be able to rent 'em from almost any tool rental place. It be worth the couple of bucks to find the best spot for your speakers.

    I think Franks idea is good, try some options before permanent mounting is the best choice.

    I would not mount them at 8' if at all possible. Hopefully you find some pleasant results at a lower height. That height really throws some sound off in a normal room. You are not in a movie theatre, so the height has to be relevent to the room you are in. My thoughts are, that you will find a nice result between 5' 1/2 - 7' max.

    Thank you all for your replies. What about the dipole bipole switch. Does anyone have a preference?

    Dipole = Side mounting
    Bipole = Rear Mounting

    BUT this is really just a suggestion by Polk, whatever sounds best in your space is your correct setting.
