CS1 Vz CS2
Can anyone tell me the biggest differences between the CS1 and CS2 center channel.
Is there that much of a difference in sound?
Like I've posted earlier.
I'm running monitor 70ii for my fronts and 60ii for my rears.
Running on a Denon Avr-891 receiver.
Would the cs1 compliment the 70's well, or is it worthwhile spending the extra bucks on a cs2?(nice deal on ebay right now on a cs1)
Thanks in advance.

With m70s dfinitelly go with a cs2, no question.Living Room 7.1 HT Rig:

let me offer an alternative. When I was using my 70,s upfront, I went up a series and used a CSIA4 as my center. Dialog being so essential in H/T . Worked out great, still using the CSIA4 in my bedroom rig , outstanding center.Emotiva XPA5, Sony ES 5300,: Lsi 15,s LSIC, Monitor 70,s, ( side surrounds) FXI 3,s, (rear surrounds)Micropro4000, Velodyne DEQ 10, Sony 55inchXBR 930D Sony BDP 790 Bedroom rig SonyES 3200 RTIA1,s CSIA4 FXI3,s polk PSW 10 SONY 34inch XBR960:cool:SONY BDP550

CS2 without a doubt!! ESP with 70's and 60's. If you ever get the chance to listen to them side by side, you'd see for your self, there's no question.
Don't get me wrong, the CS1 is a decent speaker, but you'd be hard pressed to have it keep up with your 70's.Source: BRP Panasonic UB9000, CDP Emotiva ERC3 - Display: LG OLED EVO 83 C3 - Pre/Pro: Marantz 8802A - Amplification: Emotiva XPA-DR3, XPA-2 x 2, XPA-6, Speakers, Mains/2ch-Focal Kanta No2's, C-LSiM706, S-702F/X, RS-RTiA9's, WS-RTiA9's, FH-RTiA3's, Subs - Epik Empire x 2

I have had and used both. If you can only afford the CS1 then do it, but the CS2 is preferable.
Soundwise they are about the same but the CS2 is going to dig deeper."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963) -

It's all good my brother. I'm sure your CSiA4 jams, I was referring to the OP.Source: BRP Panasonic UB9000, CDP Emotiva ERC3 - Display: LG OLED EVO 83 C3 - Pre/Pro: Marantz 8802A - Amplification: Emotiva XPA-DR3, XPA-2 x 2, XPA-6, Speakers, Mains/2ch-Focal Kanta No2's, C-LSiM706, S-702F/X, RS-RTiA9's, WS-RTiA9's, FH-RTiA3's, Subs - Epik Empire x 2

CS2....period.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Just from the comments so far, It seems the CS2 is definitely the way to go.
Thanks very much for all your replies.
Sure glad I asked. -
After all the comments saying the cs2 would work much better, that is what I bought.
Thank you everyone. -
do you have a cs1 right now? id like to know how much different it is going from one to the other.
-
Sorry, can't help you on that one. Right now I'm using a Kliptch center channel from a HTIB set. I'm looking forward to my new one when it gets here.
-
Not a huge difference but the cs2 is matched with your 70s..will not be dissappointed
-
I actually prefer smaller mid-bass drivers for more realistic dialouge from the center. You don't need to 'dig deeper' unless you aren't running a subwoofer. I see you already bought the CS2 which is a fine choice obviously, but I probably would have gone with the CS1.

I don't think its about digging deeper since its just a center channel. I found more weight and a chesty difference between Polk center channels historically. The CSi30 vs CSi40 is an obvious difference, for example.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

The chestiness is what I don't like. Digging deeper was mentioned above.
I first noticed it with the CS400, traded mine for a CS300 and didn't look back for 5 or 6 years. I know I'm in the minority on this one and I am ok with that.Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service. -

I'm with you on the smaller centers.
I swapped out my CS2 for a CSiA4 and I like it a lot more. The CS2 just seemed unnatural for dialog compaired to the CSiA4. -
I also noticed this with my CS400i.The chestiness is what I don't like. Digging deeper was mentioned above.

Love my CS2. I'm sure glad I heeded the advice given on this forum. I"ve had my cs2 for about a week now, and just love the sound. LIke it was mentioned here, goes extremely well with my 70's up front.
Thanks again for all the input everyone.
