RTI A1 VS RTI A3 sound level

Hi,
New here.
I have a simple question but haven't been able to find an answer online.

I just replaced my RTI A1 speakers by a new pair of RTI A3.
I notice that I need to put the volume level higher on my receiver when using my RTI A3 compare to my old speakers (A1) to get the same amount of volume (at least the highs ).

No problem with that. I don't know much in audio and was just wondering why.

Thanks

You are hearing the difference in the crossover points from midwoofer to tweeter in the two speakers. The speakers in the RTiA line that use 5.25 inch drivers utilize a lower crossover point than the ones that use the 6.5 inch drivers. The iA1 is 12db/oct at 1900Hz, where as the iA3 is 12db/oct at 2800. You will notice similar differences in the towers, the iA7 (6.5) at 2700Hz, and the iA9 (5.25) at 1800Hz.

    Cheers,
    Russ
