Advice on Monitor 5Jr's

I'm interested in feedback from anyone who has listened to Monitor 5jr's. How is their bass output compared to other larger Polk speakers of their day? I'm keeping my eyes open for some vintage Polks to use for a (non-serious listening) rig in my garage and want something that sounds decent and puts out a reasonable amount of bass. I'd rather not use SDA's otherwise, I'd always be in the sweet spot and never getting any work done in the garage.

Found these today:

What's the going rate for a pair?

I had Monitor 5jr+ for a couple years. They have typical bookshelf bass, but punchy, giving the illusion that they dig deeper. They are a satisfying speaker; can play loud with clean amplification, and have very good "drive or dynamics." A good rock speaker for sure. They sound larger than they appear.

I agree with steve %100. However the 7's really blow them away in the bass department and are only slightly larger (which shouldn't be a big deal in the garage).

I've purchased the 7's and the 5jr+'s for $50 but they both can go for $75-$150 in good cosmetic condition.
    Sounds good to me...

I think you would like the Monitor 5s much more and the Monitor 7s even more. I have two pairs of 5jrs and I'm not real fond of either. The RT5 is a much better speaker than the 5jrs in my opinion and can be had in excellent condition for $80-$90 + shipping if not local.
