    Welcome to Club Polk.

The RTiA1 is the 'newer' version of the RTi4.

And the RTi line is ranked above the TSi line as far as Polk's official product line up. So, one would hope that there is difference in sound.

The RTiA1 does have a wider freq response than the TSi100 and a better xover.

As far as the RTi4 vs RTiA1 - they would be almost identical 'twins'. I still have a pair of RTi4s that I use as surrounds, but when I had RTi4s up front - I will say that they are a little gem of a speaker - nice sound for movies and music. They do need a sub though to fill out the bottom end for bass.

For 'best value' - I'd look either for a set of remaining stock of RTi4s from say Crutchfield, or and maybe at a better price, RTiA1s from Polk's direct ebay site.

Haven't heard the older models but the RTi A series is quite a big jump in performance over the TSi line.

(TSi is great for the price but if you can squeeze the RTi A series into your budget, you definitely wont regret it)

    Thanks!

I'm getting a used pair of the Rti A3's. I have tried wharfedale diamond, infinity overture/intermezzo, Jamo C80's. These will be my first Polk's. I have no idea how
    they sound.

I will use mainly for 2 channel music.

    Nice!

I upgraded from RTi4s to RTiA3 - noticable improvement, but probably should have just stepped into RTiA3s to begin with. I think you will be pleased with them.

I have not heard any wharfdales - so post your thoughts after you get the RTiA3s set up.....pictures too or it never happened!

I'm getting the sense from opinions on this forum and others that you will not be disappointed with the RTi A3. I have the the Rti4 and it's very good! The A3 has been rated higher than the Rti4. The bigger woofer also moves more air for lower midrange and bass. Will you be using a subwoofer at all?

The used pair I bought off ebay was a disaster. They shipped it in a huge single wall box, single layer of bubble wrap, one speaker facing down and they using brown shipping paper between the speakers. The seller
said there was nothing wrong with the way it was packaged, go figure!

the speakers were returned and I had to get a refund through paypal.

I cannot commment on the sound since it would be unfair having damaged speakers.

I decided to go with a pair of Monitor Audio Silver RX1's, no regret's.
Excellent sound stage/depth. Bass is very decent for it's size. It's a keeper.

Though I'm still not a Polk owner, this is one of most friendly forums I have been on.

Wow - that is a shame. I feel sorry for your terrible experience as you missed out on what I think are some nice speakers.

Glad you are happy with what you got!
