Hi,

just got a pair from newegg.

is there any difference between the 40 and the 40 II?

Any one upgraded their crossovers? I've read 1-2 posts on upgrading caps, just curious how many have done it.

btw, these are my first Polks, back in the day, I went for the Infinity route

thanks

Never did any upgrades, but the only difference between the I and the II's and the bezel color and grill if I remember correctly.

There are some "wording" differences between the two, but I dont know if it was ever proven to be different (i.e. Silk dome vs Cloth dome tweeters)

Basically Newegg somehow scored an exclusive deal with Polk, so they have combined parts from the older (discontinued) Monitor series, with the newer TSi line
    65" Sony X900 (XBR-65X900E)
    Pioneer Elite SC-37
    Polk Monitor 70's (2)
    Polk Monitor 40's (4)
    Polk Monitor CS2
    Polk DSW Pro 660wi
    Oppo BDP-93
    Squeezebox Duet
    Belkin PureAV PF60
    Dish Network "The Hoppa"

    Welcome to Club Polk!

No difference between the two series in any concrete sense, just 'cosmetic' differences noted above.

Don't think it's 'worth' messing with the crossovers in M-40s IMO. Won't bring you that much more and you'd invest too much. Better off moving up the Polk ladder to some LSI-7s of LSI-9s if you want a bookshelf you can 'tinker' with to good effect!

    Thanks!

I decided not to get the 40 II. going further up the ladder.
