El Camino!

Hey, y'all gotta go to Jalopnik and tell GM that'd you'd buy an El Camino. If the post gets 100,000 responses, GM said they would bring the El Camino back to the U.S.

I wanna see if they get 100,000 posts, will GM actually do it?

I mean, I'd probably buy one. Until Ford followed suit and released a Ranchero with a 6.2L V8. Then I'd dump that El Camino faster than a Cadillac full of dead hookers!

Chevy has a 6.2L V8 that would probably go in an El Camino SS. Problem is they would just bring a car from Australia again and no one would buy it like the GTO.

    I own a 1976 that's about 75% restored.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

If they bring the Holden Ute hear I would be all over it like white on rice.

The G8 was another Holden, Australian built car. It sold well and had great critical praise. It just came at the wrong time and was a victim of a GM facing bankruptcy. The used ones are still holding quite a bit of value too.

I always liked the El Camino. I've thought about dumping the trunk and getting a project EL Camino. But the wife hates the idea(and the vehicle)
to no end. It drives me nuts, since I've stumbled onto a whole lot of
solid, straight ones. Some even have very good original paint.
A later year one with a v8 and od tranny, add TBI or FI
and you've got a pretty decent ride.

    According to Autoguide.com....
For the record, 100,000 units is about what the current Toyota Tacoma sells each year in the US and represents rather high volumes for a niche vehicle. The best sales total the original El Camino ever managed, was 64,960 units, back in 1979.

    Who cares?

It's just silly fun. GM won't do it even if Jalopnik gets 1,000,000 answers.

I don't know if I'd want to take a torch/saw to a brand new one to cut out the inner fender wells and bed to get the clearance to put 50 series Micky Thompsons on the rear with centerline chrome rims, then pour 3" of concrete in the bed to get enough weight to keep the rear end centered when I dumped the clutch. At least that's what I did to the last one I had.

Just like the one in the movie Dazed and confused. I had a 77 that was in excellent shape. Unfortunatly I had to sell her to pay off some bills. I miss that ride.

    Clicked the link.
Obvious to the most casual observer, I'm sure, but do you have to open up a twitter account to post a comment ?
