Fry's have the RTi100 on sale for $500 now. Sounds great compare to RTi70 (sub volume is 20-25%) and been thinking of getting me a new fresh speakers.

What do you all think of this? Thinking of getting RTi100 and use my RT800 for rear surround (or the CS245 and replace them w/ 2 speakers RT35 for back surround). Thanks.

I wouldn't do it, unless you *really* like the way they sound.

The extra mid-bass in the 800 creates a far greater sonic benefit, than the 6.5" 35-watt powered woofer in the 100, imo of course.

I don't see a sub in your list, if you've got $500 burning a hole in your pocket, I'd start there.

    Cheers,
    Russ

Forgot to add the little guy - Velodyne CT10

Thanks Russ, after a few minutes of demo (music and movies), sales guys getting a little pushy of making a sales, still not convince of the sound. The RTi100 is clear sounding than RTI70, cant believe it also since RTi70 handles the mid very well. Actually it was few months ago, like to stop at those room and sit down for 10-15 minutes watching demo movies and last week when they have that sales, went down the store and demo them again :D .

agreed, do not buy the rti100s unless you do not have the space for a sub. the i70s and 800is have more detailed midrange. the i100s are nice for a 3 channel stereo setup without a sub, but since you have a finished surround system i would stay with the 800is and get a sub. $500 will get you an SVS PCi sub.

this is coming from the former owner of rti100s, but hey to each his own. go get ur demo on and decide what YOU like.

Im thinking something more on their set-up (Frys) and tempted to take them home for a REAL demo.

I had the 100's and returned them for the 70's a few weeks ago. I really liked the way the 100's sounded but on the advice from the people in this forum, I took them back and got the 70's. I couldn't be happier. With that said, my set-up is 90% home theater. I don't even have a decent sub and my set-up sounded better with the 70's. If you do get 70's instead, turn all your settings to small speakers to get the real effect.

How about taking my RT800 out and replace them w/ RTi100, would it sound better since my rear surround RT35 is also single mid?

IMO. no. I had budgeted for the 100s, spent 2.5 hours listening to all combinations of mains, subs, etc...and bought the 800s. Wouldn't trade them for anything but 150s and an amp to drive them.

The 100s have very shallow bass a lack of mids for my ears. Keep the 800s and get a decent sub as recommended.

Thinking SVS also for sub instead of 100. Went out again and still not sure if they will sound different at home.

The 70/SVS combo will rule the 100 and 150, IMO of course, 150 is a great speaker, and the 100 is for the limited.......(on space)
