Monitor 60 Buzzing/Hissing Sound Help
Hi guys,
I'm using a Denon AVR 591 receiver and 3 speakers:
CS2 - Center
Monitor 60 - Left and Right
Whenever I play anything from the receiver (ie Blu Ray, DVD's), there's a hissing/buzzing sound from the Monitor 60 when there's no sound coming from it.
For example, I watched 127 hours and there's plenty of quiet scenes. I can hear the speakers kind of have that buzzing sound, similar to when a lot of power is being used. I'm seating about 7 feet away from the speakers. It sounds great when sound is coming from it. It's when there's no sound coming from it that you can hear the static/buzzing and a bit distracting.
The center channel issue doesn't have this issue, I tested it out.
What to do next....exchange the speakers and see if it still has the issues or am I being too critical? Thanks.

Try swapping the connections on the receiver between the center and one of the monitor 60's. See if the "hissing/buzzing" follows the speaker or not.

I just had a similar problem and I determined that it was coming from my CATV after reading some discussions online and doing my own investigation. The ground loop was not only coming through my HT but my separate 2-channel rig. It was so annoying. I found this ground look eliminator for CATV online and ordered it.

The problem is now gone. It cost me S25 bucks however I don?t feel like I should have to pay for it. I?m in the process of trying to get my cable company to reimburse me. In fact I have an appointment with a tech supervisor tomorrow to demonstrate the issue. They sent out two tech guys over the past two weeks but both were clueless and tried to blame it on my tv.
I had to get a little huffy with them for which I got an appointment with the supervisor. I spoke with the guy already and he seems to know his stuff and I think he will really try to correct the problem. If he does correct the problem, I will return the Ground Loop Eliminator.
