Tooling around Israel for the next two weeks. Got in yesterday afternoon. No jet lag to speak of... Went to bed about 11 pm and woke up about 7 am without an alarm. And no, there's not really any point to this post. Just saying I'm in Israel.

Good Lord, be safe brother. I take it you aren't out there for a vacation?

Shoot me a PM if you want any tips. One of the best things we did was pay for a guided tour of Jerusalem... then go back a second day and return to all the places that looked cool and see them at your own pace on off hours when they're not slammed. Holy Sepulchre, for example, was a madhouse w/ the tour groups, but completely empty early the next morning.

It might be a little hairy considering the recent events, but if you can jump over to Jordan to see Petra, you won't regret it. Catch a flight to Eilat, walk across the border, then you can catch a cab to Jordan for about $60. Or arrange a hotel before you go and they can set up transport for about the same cost (Petra Movenpick is the closest to the entrance).

Shalom I thought was both too obvious and too corny.

Flight sucked. Got stuck next to a guy that had to weight north of 400 lbs. Never sat next to someone that caused the arm rest to move 4-5 inches into my seat.

Here for business. With 2 weeks worth of crap in my luggage, I won't be bringing anything back with me except dirty laundry.

Not really too worried... It's my 5-6th time here, so I kind of know my way around a bit. Hope to go out cycling around Tel-Aviv Saturday, since that's the only day I'll have off.

    Guess that about covers it.

Post some pics! If you see any audio stuff over there, regardless of how lame, post them. What are they using in the local restaraunts and establishments. Do we need to FedEx some Polk's to you?
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Be sure to go to Haifa.
Beautiful city and keep your eyes peeled for the street vendors who sell corn on the cob; unbelievably good. Worth the price of the trip alone.

Yeah, well, it's usually around 2300 when I get out of the office, so I pretty much just go back to the hotel and crash. I do have most of Saturday off, and hopefully, I'll get to do some wandering around. Plus, next week is Israel Independance day, so I may get to check that out if I'm not tied up with customers back in the US. I hear they do a helluva show.

Proxy for what? 16 hour days in the office training engineers? 'Cause if you'll take that but I get to keep the checks, consider it a done deal.

Don't be running down Texas now. I live there. Must less chance of getting blown up by a whack job in Texas than in Israel. Also, we have a lot fewer people lobbing rockets into Texas. Crazies with guns is probably about the same though, if you count Hamas controlled territory as part of Israel.

Any who... pictures from a ride around the Tel Aviv-Yaffo area Saturday, including some shots of/from Old Yaffo.
