SDAS an my soul

There is lots of discussion in this forum about soundstage, imaging and our SDAS. Today, as I usually do, I cleaned all around my entertainment and audio gear. When I do this, I check all my connections and cables (I know a bit anal). Anyway, a friend of mine recently sent me a dvd of Simon & Garfunkle old friends live on stage, so I popped it into the dvd and finished up what I was doing. Finally, I took a break, closed my eyes and just listened. There is something about their music that just seems to fill my soul. It could be that the music transports me back to a simpler time when I was a kid and the world was a different place and I was a different person.
Don't get me wrong, I'm sure the soundstage and imaging played a big role in taking me to that place. As I sat there, I couldn't help thinking that this is why we spend the money we do in this hobby. I don't think there is another hobby that can take you to a place like this.
I sure you guys know what I'm talking about. I guess I just wanted to share as right now I feel GREAT.

I agree. The only other hobby I can think of to give you that feeling is when I pull out my 1972 Trans am and go for a ride. It brings back alot of good memories. Enjoy.Polk HT system 1: LSIC, LSI25 mains, LSI F/X rears, Lsi F/X rear centers,

right on right on, reading this made me get my beat up old CRS,s out and hooked up in place of my Lsi9s for a session. was never a big fan of SDA,s, until now. i recently moved into a bigger place, twice as big a room, they never seemed to sound good in the small place, but now, outstanding. might have to get out the wallet and sonicap them. too bad the cabinets need some serious help. never had the grills. im feelin it too.

Interesting analogy. I remember how I felt about muscle cars when I was a teen or 20 something. But I can't identify with that any longer. Nothing left to prove or experience in that field. But Audio...that's another story that can be quite magical.
I know a lot of guys love the HP. And that's OK by me but it seems so 'young'?

Listening to SDA's has definitely been good for my soul.

Nice. Been doing a lot more SDA listening lately as well. The wife came in last evening while I was listening and said, "I'm wanting to find out what this is all about". I said, "You have to sit here to understand" and smiled. Someday maybe she'll get it. I'll make sure my kids do. :biggrin:____________________________________________________________

I can't imagine what it is like. I have just gotten into this at a young 59 and am just enjoying the entry level stuff I have. One day maybe...

SDA's are definitely something special. They look cool, sound great, and have that "old school" vibe to them. Heck, they are old school! The amount of music I've been buying has really gone up since I've started on the SDA journey. Tubes took it to another level too...
byfthalone - Keep an eye on Craigslist. Depending on where you are, some of the "lower-end" SDA models can show up frequently at fairly cheap prices. For a moderate sized speaker, look for 2B's or 1C's. Both sound great!
dpowell - Hopefully your wife will get it, but some people never will - especially the younger generation, I think. They are content listening to their over-compressed, crappy sounding MP3's injected directly into their brains with those little ear buds. They don't have the patience to sit and listen... -
I have had a pair of SDA 1a's for about a year. The prior owner did not love or care for them, and the cases illustrate that abuse. I have not yet connected them to anything since I wanted to do the much needed repairs and crossover rebuilds. I'm finaly pulling all of the pieces together, and I hope to break my SDA hymen this weekend! God! I'm so jonesing to hear this highly regarded SDA effect!
