How to power 4 MM651UM's?

I have 4 MM651UM speakers for my boat wakeboard tower.
2 speakers are in each enclosure, or can, and they are wired in parallel so they are now at 2 ohms.
I know I need a 2 channel amp that is 2 ohm stable. Each speaker is rated at 100 watts RMS. So....
Would I need an amp that puts out 200 watts RMS x 2 at 2 ohms? Or 100 watts RMS x 2 at 2 ohms?

Are you going to run a sub?

To run the 2 pairs of 651's, wired in parallel, yes you would need an amp thats stable at 2ohm.

If you're only looking to run the 651's, then a 2 ch amp like the PA 250.2 or the PA 330 would do. If you want to run a sub too, then maybe look at a 4 ch amp like the PA 500.4 or PA 660 which gives you an extra 2 ch's, that you can bridge to run the sub.

Subs are already taken care of.

If each speaker is rated at 100 watts RMS, is 100 watts from an amp going into 2 speakers at 2 ohms really going to be enough?
I am in this situation because I had an amp that put out 100 watts x 2 at 2 ohms, but the speakers were clipping. So I'm thinking 100 watts is underpowering them.

    Any one else?

60-70 watts a piece is plenty. Your speakers weren't clipping, your amp was. Gains too high.

I tried them with two different amps, both with gains turned to 0.

60-70 watts a piece, are you saying per speaker, or per can?

I would run as much power that you can up to the limit for each speaker. If the rms rating is 100 watts for each speaker that is what I would try to do. The more power the better. Typically under powering speakers is more dangerous than over powering them. As mentioned above, you might have been clipping the amp and that is how most people blow their speakers.

    That's what I thought. I'll look for an amp at 200 watts x 2.
    Thanks.

The limit is 100 watts RMS, a 50W x2 @ 4 Ohms, will get you to that magic number. Personally I stay in the 4 Ohm range due to THD(Total Harmonic Distortion) An amp is mearly a gain device. I have ran 100 watt RMS amps to 45 watt RMS speakers and didn't hurt anything just by simply not overdriving them.
